Sgammo has a spam can of 1440 rounds of Wolf for $360 and it’s out of stock!
People are afraid of civil unrest. They are stocking up on whatever they can find.
Only because someone will buy it.
Supply and Demand.
Simple as that
Driven by about 3.5 million new gun owners, many of them liberal, who're pooping themselves that they'll be eaten by the mob they supported.
I'm glad I cleaned out Wal Mart in the fall when they had those fire sales on ammo.
I bought two 1000 rd. cases of 7.62x39 Wolf for my SKS type 56 for $99 each, back in the day.
I don’t want to shoot any Wolf/Tula/whatever in any of my nice guns. I watched a video of a guy touting it and as he made each point, I thought to myself “nope”.
After I hit one store- the next 2 times I went to WM I told my wife- I am going to just go look and see what they have - but don’t need anything.
Then I would call her and say - swing over by the ammo checkout and pick me up - I bought more than I can carry again!
9MM, .223 and 45ACP
Wait till the fall, COVID soars, businesses close again, people get desperate and we start using it
A good indicator is the online ammo source “Bulk Ammo”
Normally they have 1000 round cases for sale of Wolf, Tula, etc....Right now they have none of these available.
The largest boxes they have are 200 round boxes of name brand ammo running at or near $1 a round.
If a person had no ammo, this is serious. It’s serious for me now, makes me reluctant to shoot what I have.
So, $12.50 for a box of 50 rounds of 9mm?
But if out of stock, then maybe the real price is higher?
Same here. I like to go out plinking now and then, but don't want to use up my stash.
This is exactly why I am one of those stinking hoarders. I can shoot for several years at my current rate without running out. Ammo stockpiles (IMO) are not about TEOTWAWKI, zombies or the electric boogaloo. Having a stash is protection against interruptions in the supply chain and panicked price increases.
Not everyone can order 10 cases of ammo at one time, but most of us can by two boxes instead of one when heading to the range. Shoot one and stash one. It builds up.
I know what you mean....... while I have “plenty” of centerfire handgun and rifle ammunition I don’t have a sense on how long “this” could go on.
Luckily for me I was so pissed off by the last shortage I went very heavy on 22LR. I figure I’ll mostly use that to maintain my skills.
This is exactly what I have found - guns and ammo.
Once back in stock the price will be much higher.
There was a guy on the KelTec forum I use to belong to - IIRC Wilson was his name - he was really old (like 85) and this was 15 years ago -
He use to say - the difference between a hoarder and having a reasonable amount of inventory was outside storage.
If you had to start renting storage space to keep your excess ammo and guns then maybe you were a hoarder - but as long as you have room left to keep stuff without renting space you were not a hoarder.
I hope the guy is still around - but kind of doubt it - he loved KT P3AT - and helped many people with problems they were having.
I still have mine - but may try and sell it - along with the 400 rounds of .380 auto ammo I have - but my guess is all the gun shows will be shut down again.
If you’re shooting ball ammo for self defense (in pistols) you’re already desperate. If you like to shoot 200 rds a month and you’re burning through the case you bought every 5 months, your practice will be impacted soon.
If you ever need/use 500 rds of JHP in pistol caliber of choice, things are bad or you’re real good at playing Apocalypse Warrior (or you spread it around to your friends and family in time of need).
I hate that demand is driving up prices (at smaller stores) and online, not so much at big box places, but want everyone to remember what places are doing the raising. I haven’t used Cheaper Than Dirt since those MFers raised prices on mags during the Clinton ban. Yes, I know how capitalism and supply and demand work; I’ve been supplying consignment stuff to local shops since demand went up but the shops I deal with didn’t go from having $359 LE trade ins one day and then marking them up to 539 the next day like some others in the area.
What would you call someone with almost 5K JHPs?
Just asking for a friend.
A gun without ammo is like a car without gas...useless.
You need to watch the book of Eli again.
I recall going to range after Sandy Hook. The shelves were empty. Had a lady next to us at the range asking us to teach her how to shoot. She had a snub nose .38 and 3 bullets. Luckily I had a couple hundred wadcutters with me.
Proud to be a bullet farmer.
