So my wife and I were driving home from the store and about 2 miles from home there was some water on the road due to rain, but I could see the curbs and it was no big deal - just drive slowly. Then we saw the car in front of us started making waves so we stopped and started to back up: the water rose very fast.. We couldn't back up any further, it was deeper behind us. So we pulled over. When the water rose above the curbs, we pulled onto the median. Then the water kept rising, all the way until water started entering our car. We have to collect our things and bail, when we opened the door, water rushed in. As you can see, we weren't in a suspiciously low lying area: it just rose fast. We were waiting it out on the median, watching other cars do something stupid and get flooded. We just couldnt wait any longer, without doing anything stupid, we just ran out of luck. Looks like I'm getting a new car soon! Insurance agent called it a total loss due to the electronics being saturated and the interior getting flooded (we stopped the car before the engine flooded).
