Hello, Mr. Ayoob. I have a great deal of respect for you.
As a retired LEO, I have searched plenty of houses for many types of suspects, including my own house. I know it is best to stay in your safe room with loved ones and await the police but say it becomes necessary to search your own home. Every one stresses a good flashlight and some type of laser on your handgun. I use a good flashlight but one of the first things I do in my house when searching it is turn on the overhead and or lamp light to the room and size up anything when the room is completely lighted.
I feel this will not give your position away any more than using a flashlight and I turn on the light to get a total perspective of the entire room.

I have not heard this advocated or advised much in the many books and TV shows I have watched on this subject. In fact I wonder why it is talked about so little, If nothing else to say don't do this and why. I feel this is an overlooked advantage.
How do you feel about this?
    Thanks.
