Ex-Conard High Student Teacher Gets Accelerated Rehabilitation In Sex Case
Former Conard High School student teacher and track coach Tayler Ivy Boncal, accused of having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student, was granted a special form of probation on Thursday that will result in the dismissal of all charges if successfully completes probation.
Boncal, 22, of Beacon Falls, had been charged with three counts of second-degree sexual assault. Those charges were reduced to fourth-degree sexual assault, a class A misdemeanor that carries a maximum sentence of one year in jail.
Superior Court Judge Joan K. Alexander granted Boncal accelerated rehabilitation and placed her on probation for two years. Boncal can have no contact with the student, and can’t teach or have a job in which she has a supervisory role over students or minors. Prosecutors did not object to Boncal receiving accelerated rehabilitation.
New Britain State’s Attorney Brian Preleski told the judge that by all accounts Boncal did terrific job as a student teacher during the fall semester. She was so well thought of she was then hired as a coach for the school’s track team. After she concluded student teaching, he said, she had a consensual relationship with male student over 18 who was not a member of the track team. She was 22 and finishing up her teaching degree at the time.
The 18-year-old male student and Boncal both told police that the relationship began when he asked for her phone number in December, according to a five-page arrest warrant affidavit for Boncal. She told police that she taught social sciences and that the 18-year-old was in some of the classes.
On Dec. 4, Boncal was hired as a track and field coach. School officials said the 18-year-old is not a member of the track team.
The two acknowledged that they began exchanging texts Dec. 13 and had sex at Boncal’s residence on different occasions, between Dec. 25 and Jan. 11, according to the affidavit.
“She stated that the victim was kind to her,” the affidavit said. “Boncal stated that she loved the victim and was emotional regarding her feelings for him.”
The student initially denied the relationship when questioned by investigators, but eventually told them of the encounters, the affidavit says. He told police that he and Boncal exchanged sexually explicit photos and messages, but that he had recently lost his cellphone. Boncal told police that most of the communication was done on Facebook Messenger.
“The victim refused to provide a written statement,” police wrote. “The victim expressed concern for Boncal with regard to the outcome of this investigation.”
Preleski said Boncal was not in a supervisory position over the boy and that he pursued her. The boy’s mother does not perceive her son to be a victim of a crime, he said.
Her lawyer, Eugene J. Riccio, said Boncal acknowledges she made a mistake and regrets the situation.
State law prohibits sexual contact between school district employees and students in their schools.
stupid law. Not even a teacher anymore. Track coach. Both legal.
Sorry, without new hot picture teacher content, resurrecting a 2 year old thread is a major "Dork" offense or a Board marketing move. Dipchit with 2 posts brings this back. there's your clue. One other comment too about Hydrox. What are the odds that the forum owners are paying for this chit?
Fine should be a "I am a retread Dork" statement before any post for 30 days.
One can dream.
