Honestly is there that much diff between G17 and G19?

    I bought the Gen4 G17 (couldn't wait for the G19 Gen4)
    :fist:

should I have waited and got the G19? Is the slight difference that MUCH different between the two?

Do most holsters that fit the G17 fit a G19?

There is a small different in grip length and barrel length. Not to worry, everyone should own a G17. Save your pennies and get yourself a 4th gen G19 when they come out. Really depends on your situation. If you are a fairly large framed person, then you can prolly conceal a g17 pretty well. If your not carrying concealed, only using for range or HD, then the G17 will serve you well. The G19 is simply a smaller G17. It conceals better, and for some people with smaller hands like myself, it fits them better. Golden rule...you can never own too many Glocks, so you basically just gave yourself a reason to buy another. TXPO

As far as holsters go, some will fit both and some are specific to the model, you will just have to check when you decide on which holster you want to go with.

The main difference obviously is the length of the slide and grip. The 17 is a bit big to conceal carry but if you're not doing that, why not get the 17?

Many holsters with an open slide end will handle all three sizes (e.g. 17/19/26).

I CCW a G17 daily. I also have a G19 and I don't think it's that much easier to conceal. I still need the same cover garment no matter which gun I carry.

The G17 feels a lot bigger in my hand than G19. All I can figure is the location of the rear palm swell makes it feel bigger, as the G17 grip is not fatter, only longer. The Gen 4 small grip option might make a big difference for me.

This shows a little of the differences of the 3gens.

And here is all the nines. I made this when I was trying to figure out what would be my FIRST Glock. Now I have a 17, 19 & 26. Most (not all) holsters that are for the 17, the 19 & 26 will work in.

In my hand I prefer my 23 to my 22
Also I've carried both concealed-my 23 is a fair bit easier to hide

My hand fits the 19 grip and finger grooves perfectly. When I hold a 17 it feels like I am choking up on a bat. Lots of grip hanging down below my hand and it isn't doing anything.

I just ordered a Fist 1AK holster and asked them to cut it so that both the G17 and G19 will fit. I assume it will just have a little bit of an opening in the slide end so that the G17 can fit...

I just bought the Gen 4 G17 and I love the grip (without any backstraps). It's the first Glock that has actually just felt "right" in my hand and I have larger hands. I also have the 3rd Gen G19 and love it too but the Gen 4 G17 is probably my favorite of all my Glocks.

I recently went through the same thing. G22 vs. G23. I went to buy dead set on the 23 but at the last minute went with the 22. It simply felt better in my hands. Of course I'm 6'6 250 so I may be more the exception than the rule.

A guy here in Phoenix AZ has a Gen. II Glock 17 where he filed/cut/altered the bottom of the magazine well such that Glock 19 magazines will now fit/function in the weapon; only $450.00!

Why would you do that to a perfectly good weapon?

You made a good decision. The G17 is a great gun.

Also, many on these forums claim that there isn't that big of a difference between a G26 and a G19. Using that standard, then there really isn't any more of a difference between a G19 and a G17.

    Either way, you did good.

I had a G19, found out it concealed the same as a full size, so now I have a G17.

Half an inch on each end. Most holsters that fit one will fit the other.

I'm NO where near as tall or solid as you but I can say my 17 fits my hand perfectly. My 19 just doesn't have the natural feel that my 17 does so it spends a lot of time in the safe.

The best Glock is one that you already have. As far as the concealment of a 17 vs. a 19, the weight of a fully loaded pistol is something to consider, especially if extended, all day wear is the norm for you.
