Yeah, the ‘sport touring’ or ‘touring adventure’ bikes are really just sportbikes for dads. If you want to go off-road, a KLR or DRZ will suit your needs much better. I loved my sportbikes, but now I wanna sit somewhat upright due to my aging neck lol.

Daughter learned to ride powered two wheeler on an older looking one. Got her motorcycle endorsement and moved up to Honda Helix. She and her husband now have several of the Helixes and ride four digit seasons, including trailering to distant areas.

I’ve built both, the Honda was way faster. But the 40 hp NOS shot helped out.

Congratulations on your bike. Hope it gives you many good memories.

I never get those who feel the need to bash other bike (or gun) brands. It's as if they are so insecure (or arrogant) in their choice that they feel the need elevate it by disparage the choices others make.

I've owned Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Suzuki in the past, all were good bikes that served me well. Currently on a Harley. If I were picking a bike for long distance travel it would be a Goldwing, your bikes dressed out brother.

I rode a KLR650 for years. My other bike is a KLX250. I just let my enthusiasm get the better of me. Nothing dramatic no damage, just a lot of straining to get it back on the wheels.

My "Touring Adventure" sportbike for dads has seen many miles of rough terrain.

You seem to know a lot about the subject.

But one thing I'm curious about is, what is the difference between some people who buy a bike vs other people who buy a bike. I mean whether someone uses a credit card or cash shouldn't matter. And how can someone get into the biker scene without buying a bike?

Doesn't everyone who buys a bike buy their way into the biker scene?

Not everyone who has a bike is a part of the biker scene. I consider myself a motorcyclist, not a biker. I do all that I can to avoid the biker scene.
And I take my sport touring vfr800 off road all the time.

I`ve been on two wheels for about 65yrs, first 2.5hp gas powered minibike at age 5, so i guess i see it a little differently than you probably do. I`ll bet alot of older riders know what i`m talking about.

    EDIT:
I`ll just add, that i am not brand loyal. I`ll ride ANYTHING with 2 wheels. Its not as much about the bike, its about the ride and the journeys, ON the bike.

Love the sound of Harleys and they look good. However, I do like some power. Doesn’t need to be Hayabusa fast but some power is necessary. Harley has upgraded their standard 107 & 114 over the past couple years. With Stage 4 mods and a good tune, I could ride a Harley.

    Anyway, congrats on the bike!

A museum piece that runs is not the same as a daily driver, nice try though.
