I just purchased my 3rd Honda (Truck)...I am a Honda fan
His hand is on the tank. That was Jay “ PeeWee” Gleason on a V65 Honda Magna. He was a professional drag racer, and that V65 magna was a beast!
That guy is crazy.
That's Big Muskie's bucket, in McConnelsville, Ohio.
Very nice Valk. You should get many miles and smiles out of it.
As for me, call me what you want for it matters not to me. I label myself an enthusiast. I'm not loyal to any one brand or style. I simply like motorcycles. Been riding for 45 years and I continue to enjoy every minute. Here's a look at my current rides...
Between cars and bikes I've owned at least 14 Hondas. There's a good reason for this. I also have several friends that own Harleys, some of them here at GT, so I'm not one to put down Harleys, they're just not for me.
PeeWee was one of the best and several mags used him to get the best 1/4 mile times out of the bikes they were reviewing. That seems like it was a long time ago.
Honda used to build some of their motorcycles (Gold Wings) in Ohio. I remember touring their factory outside Marysville on a school field trip.
The Honda factory there is still open but I'm fairly sure that motorcycle production moved somewhere else in the 1990s.
Here’s my Honda. I’m the terror of West University Place. Nobody messes with the crazy old man on the scooter...
With harley you get(and pay for) the name recognition and what ever that brings..Riding both (when i rode..which i no longer do..just too dangerous) I always thought the hondas were a overall smoother ride and well just overall better built/put together..nothing wrong with harleys mind you...there are a few models I look at and really like..BUT overall if you gave me a FREE bike id probably pick the Honda.
Here's a pic of my old 94 magna
Wise choice. Harleys are a status statement much like 1911's.
A friend and neighbor has a Harley. Nice bike. He's a pretty big guy - at least around the waist. He gets dressed up in his 'requisite pirate outfit' to go ride. One front tooth has a cap - he pulls the cap off for effect. It always reminds me of a kid at Halloween - dress up to pretend. He sure looks the part of a rough and ready Harley driver.
Way back in history past I had a Harley ... It was a Super Glide and a great bike. FX - kicker. No oil leaks and started/ran great. But some friends had a Kawi dealership and I made the switch to Jap bikes. There was no way I was ever going back to Harley.
My most favorite bike was my V45 Magna, never should have sold it. HDs are over rated and over priced then you have to put up with all the Posers!
When i get it out again next summer, i`ll get some pics of it cleaned up and then PM them to you.
Motorcycle production was moved to Japan in 2009.
I rode my 1520cc Gold Wing all over the western US, twice! There's not a better ride anywhere. Your Honda is a beauty and it will serve you well. Don't let anyone sour you on your ride. It's a great bike! That engine/transmission is virtually the same as my Gold Wing.
The most amazing thing about that Gold Wing was the power and gearing. In long hauls like El Centro Pass coming into Southern California it performed beautifully!
With two up and lots of luggage, fifth gear took us all the way up that pass. That grade is so tough that large cisterns of water are placed along the road going up the climb. On the San Diego side, fifth gear provided enough engine braking so I never had to touch the brake!
The Gold Wing crossed Montana at 95 mph going 700 miles west to east. A Harley could never do that. Some tried to run with us going to Sturgis. All failed.
All that being said, I've owned a lot of bikes and many brands. My favorite ride of all was the Harley Sportster XL1200C. I sold it to my neighbor and still get to see it coming down the street occasionally. I loved that bike!
