I saw pics of a Honda CB-series concept bike a while back, but I never heard anything more about it. If this article is to be believed, it is going to happen:

"It’s described as a concept bike but insiders say this bike is not far from production as part of new twin-pronged CB1100 range

Are Honda finally about to get serious with the CB1100 retro roadster? If two concept bikes shown at last weekend’s Osaka motorcycle show are anything to go by then it looks like that could be the case.

The Osaka motorcycle show isn’t a huge show but Honda went all out with a wide range of concept and production bikes including two CB1100 concepts that could signal a new split range to satisfy both the heritage and modern classic needs of buyers.

The red painted CB Concept has already been seen at the Tokyo motorcycle show last year but this latest ‘concept’ has been mildly changed. The other, dubbed CB Concept Type II was seen for the first time and is simply stunning in terms of the looks and near production specification..."

Here is the original concept bike I saw:

I would buy this bike in a heartbeat. I sure hope it happens.

I am not surprised they are doing this but I thought they already had a retro type CB1100 a coupe years ago.

I'm not a fan of the old-school cafe racer look. Never liked it.

I like the yellow one. That is going to be my next bike.

I saw the story and pics of the concept bike posted back then, but I never heard anything more about it. It looks like this is a done deal. They have they bike listed on the Honda Motorsports website now. I wonder what the price will be?

Nice looking machine. I can see it as a commuter motorcycle or for long distance touring when fitted out with windshield and saddlebags. Solo rider only.

They have had the CB1000 out for a few years. They had to relearn how to design air cooled engines. Fin sizes on the cylinders drove them nuts but they finally got it right.

So.. is it sort of styled off the Triumph with street tires? Sorry, I am not good at motorcycle history.

My dad bought the Triumph below a few years ago. I rode it around town several times and it was a fun little bike.

Is it on the market now? On Honda's website, the list the CB1100 as a 2017/2014. The price is market as 'TBD'. If you click on the '2014' though, it links to another bike that is basically the same, with a price listed as $10,399. I there a transition under way? Has it been on the market before this year? I am confuse.

Looks almost like the '80 750 that I owned. Put 38,000 on it before I sold it to buy an '83 750 Sabre that I put 63,000 on.
Previous to the '80 I had a used '75 750. The '80 with the 4 valve head would fly. Never had a minutes trouble with any of them.

They had some great bikes out, in the early eighties. Honda had the CB series, Suzuki had the GS series and Kawasaki of course had the legendary KZ series. You know, they were still building KZ1000 police motorcycles up until the last ten years or so ago. They modernized it mechanically along the way, but it was the same basic bike.

I owned and drove examples of the CB, GS and KZ series bikes and I absolutely loved them all. I also love that Turbocharged Yamaha Seca (I believe), The Honda Sabre and Nighthawk bikes and of course my favorites, the Honda V65 Magna, the Honda Shadows, the Suzuki Intruders and the Viragos. Also, the Kawasaki Vulcan. There were a lot of great bikes to choose from. I wish I had one of every one of them now.

I also had two Honda VF-1000F Interceptors. I always wanted a V-Max and a Katana, but never got either of them.

Who else wanted to firebomb Honda back then, after they did this to the Magna? The new style wasn't a bad looking bike, in its own right, but they took one of the most beautiful, icon bikes of the eighties and just swept the board clean. I really hated that.

My buddy has an 83 V65 with 3000 miles on it. I've been trying to wrest it from his grasp for 20 years. He said he's going to restore it.

Man, I would LOVE to have that bike. Ask him if he needs anyone killed, or maybe a septic system cleaned out.

I thought we were talking about a V65 Magna, but I like the Sabres as well. Those and the Nighthawks too. I like most of the early to mid-eighties Jap bikes.
