i think his name was chestnut and he was leading the 5 time champ kobyashi at around the 3/4 mark but started failing and kobyashi just kept chugging along to take the lead and never look back. he ended up losing by 1 hotdog, closest the usa has come to that guy in a long time.

He did a great job. This was a much more exciting contest then previous years when Kobayashi would put away 40 and the 2nd place person like 20.

The top 2 guys didn't look too happy or healthy at the end of it this year. Crazy stuff.
