I came across a reference to these a couple of weeks ago and just pulled the trigger on one for my wife. She wanted a light to use around the hospital and on her way to and from work, but nothing tacticool so as to not spook the sheep. It uses 2 AAA batteries so it's about the size of an ink pen and has 3 main modes - 2.2 OTF lumens, 22 OTF lumens, and 160 OTF lumens. After shipping and discounts it came to $45.08. I think she will be pleased.

I have been toying with buying one of those for duty use for a few weeks. I think I am going to go for it since now everyone on GT will be ordering one.
It has strobe, SOS, and two beacon modes as well.

That's about 2.5x what I was expecting for high mode.

I kinda thought that those Preons would receive a warm welcome around here.

Don't even get me started about the one that I found for me. :)) (not a Preon)

3 CR123's and 1,000 lumens. Man I've got to stay away from Candlepowerforums.

How do you select the various modes?

Do you have to step through them pushing the tail cap? First click low, second click medium, ect.... So if I only want the low light I have to click 6 more times to turn it off?

From what I have read, you click to turn it on and cyle thru the modes: Low-Med-High. But if it stays on a mode for 2 seconds or more the next click is Off. The 4 special modes are accessed if you click thru the 3 ordinary modes twice in 3 seconds.

That reminds me of that grenade pen James Bond had in Goldeneye, click it so many times and it starts the timer, click is so many times again to shut it off.
