Ok I noticed some vendors are carrying 1911 holsters in only 5" or 4" so where does the commander with a 4.25" barrel fit into that category? Would you just shop elsewhere or would you go with which one?

oh and usually companies that make the "Commander" size 1911 holsters leave extra room in the front to compensate for the extra quarter inch.

From what I've seen, 4" refers to the Commander length barrel. Depending on the mfg, I've seen Commander lengths vary from about 3.9 to 4.25"

Scott, your sticker gave up the ghost today on my 20th dive with it. Not bad at all.

I bet you're talking about Desantis and their new "Max" Holster.
