I have a Galco holster for a Smith J frame. The issue I have is that when I walk the holster is 'squeaking' due to the leather rubbing on my belt - I think.
Is there a fix for this? I was thinking about oiling the holster but I don't want it to get too soft.

A little baby power at that spot can help.

+1 for the baby powder but get it without the added oils. Oil can soften the holster.

I had one years ago that I used talcum powder on. The kind you could get from a pool (billiards) supply shop. I put it in the area of the stitching that was squeaking.

I have used neutral shoe polish paste like KIWI Brand and just rubbed it on with a finger and a rag, let it dry and buff it the best I can.

change belts, or holster. Wrap that section of belt with Seran wrap.

That part of the holster will not be harmed by a little bit of oil:
neetsfoot, or saddle soap, or silicone spray. Clear spray on dry lube evaporates.
