I'm taking my CPL class today and tomorrow, that being said. What is the best IWB and OWB holster for a G23? Also would anyone who has an extra laying around be willing to let me try one before I go out and buy my own?

Also, once I do have my CPL, I plan on picking up a G27 also. Any holsters that will work for both?

Thanks in advance

Best holster is always a matter of opinion, based on body shape and size and an individual's requirements. That said, for my 23 I settled on a CBST and a Hume 721OT. Both meet my needs for IWB and OWB carry. The G27 will fit the G23 CBST, but the Hume would be a little long.

I linked (I think) a holster "try it before you buy it" program GT started here. I don't know how it's working out or if it's even still going on but you might give it a try.

As far as IWB, I use a Crossbreed SuperTuck for my G19/26 and have been more than happy with it. I know there are comparable models but I have no experience with them.

when i buy my holsters, i buy them for my 27, and use them for both my 23 and 27....

my two favorite holsters are the galco fx 286b for my owb carry, and the blackhawk cerpa cqc for range and other owb carry...i use the galco for concealed carry, and the blackhawk when i dont care, the range, woods, idpa....

iwb is too uncomfortable for me, so if i dont want to carry owb, i use a lcp for pocket carry....

Just looking for an opinion. Whoever has the BlackHawk CQC SERPA Holster could you tell me how you like the holster. I have a G19 and that holster keeps growing on me. I like the carbon fiber look. I don't want to purchase if you guys think I will hate it.
Thanks

Get a Glock Sport/Combat. Wear it either outside belt or inside belt.
Fits all sizes except there are two frame sizes.

About $12.00 shipped and works great.

I have 2 drawers full of holsters, both expensive and cheap but I use the Glock S/C more than any of them.

I carry a G23. I use a Galco Tuck-N-Go ($30 or less shipped and tuckable) for IWB, 2,3 and 4:00 o'clock, a very versatile holster. A Comp-Tac Paddle for OWB, FBI cant. This will probably run you around $65 shipped. I had the usual drawer full of holsters I accumulated but didn't use. I sold off all of them but these two. The MTAC made a bulge the size of Montana on my hip and didn't fit well anywhere but at 4:00. I had several others that all made carrying inconvenient one way or another. The two below will suit most attire situations for me. And they will handle a G27.

Get this belt, ~ $50. Call them to order. Specify seven holes, 3/4" apart (important). Seven holes makes it easier to adjust to your girth, lol. It has a Kydex inner liner to support the weight of your new 31 oz (loaded) piece. I have one in brown and one in black. Ask them how to measure. They will adjust the holes to allow for IWB. (I also buy my jeans 2" larger in the waist to accommodate my EDC).

When you wallet will allow, pick up a couple of LWD conversion barrels in 9mm and 357 Sig. Also a couple of 9mm mags. No other mods for my gun. Shoot 124 grain 9mm's and you will have no problems otherwise.

I just received the delivery of my Blackhawk Inside-the-Pants w/Clip Holster for my G27. I love it. I've tried quite a few, so I now have many holsters, and as mentioned in an above post, you'll have to find your comfortable fit. I am very fond of this new one. Nice leather, quality construction and my Glock 27 fits like a glove, and will fit your G23. Good luck on your CPL instruction. Check out several holsters but if your getting a G27, take a look at that Blackhawk.

I know, I know. it might be wrong to shill a new carrier, but...

I have a pocket holster (made by Alabama Holster Co.) for sale that'll fit your G23 juuuust right. Good price, and it's so easy and convenient to drop it in your pocket on the way into town. It actually works really well, I just don't use it all that much anymore. Another AHCo holster took it's place.

I also have a leather spring-clip style IWB that a member here made for me a while back. Again, works great, I just don't use it much. Good price if you're interested.

If you're like most of us, you'll end up with a "holster drawer" that your wife rolls her eyes at.

And spend the $50 (or more, if you want) or so on a decent gun belt. Probably more important than the holster.

Take a look at raven concealment systems. They are great! The phantom says it will ship in 45 days, but I received mine in two weeks. The customer service is second to none. Lifetime warranty, and very comfortable. The attachments are modular, so if you want an IWB today, OWB tomorrow, and IWB tuckable the following day, you just loosen a couple of screwsand change hardware. Just check them out on Facebook, and see how much everyone likes it!
