In response to TheSundanceKid...When I worked as a police officer in Washington State, I responded to a call in which a guy stuck a .45 down the front of his pants appendix style. When my partner and I arrived, he was sitting in a chair in his kitchen with a bloody towel draped between his legs and blood all over the chair beneath him. You can probably figure out what happened but I had to take a look for myself and after seeing what that bullet did to that guy's pride and joy I will never carry appendix and stick to IWB or OWB at the 3-5:30 position exclusively. Needless to say that guy was rushed into the ER and eventually had to be airlifted to Seattle for treatment. I never heard what ultimately happened but I don't think the guy was able to function quite the same prior to sticking his pistol down the front of his pants that night.

I had the same fears but what I do to avoid this is the gun comes in and out from appendix carry with the holster. I never stick the gun into the holster once I have my holster in the pants. I use just a simple single clip Kydex holster. So far so good, I can’t conceal at 3-4 o’clock at all so I’m stuck with this. I’ve considered da/sa for just this reason. I still may switch at some point.

I have no problem with the Gen 4 finish but I'm not buying a G43 until Glock makes a factory 7 round mag for it that I can carry as a spare.

The other thing is that I'm hearing bad things about the Gen 5 finish such as that it's too slick and that it's harder for some people to grip the slide, but you can't always believe what you hear. And I'm not buying a Gen 5 either until they get rid of that stupid front magazine cut-out.

People will find anything to complain about. I’m sure people hated the old frying pan finish that is very sought after now. That frying pan finish is super slick but super strong. Grip it like a man.

What's the problem with the finish? I've had the G43 for two years and it appears to be just normal slide wear from the holster.

I don’t see what’s so scary about appendix carry, keep your damn finger off the trigger when holstering! Practice! Pretty hard to have an ND in a kydex holster.....

I wore my Glock 43 for a full year in a ankle holster and it has held up great. Rubbed the finish off the mag release but the rest of the gun looks new. No complaints from me. I bought it two weeks after release. Lots of ammo used up and never had a failure.
It's as good as a carry gun gets imo.

I like my G43. The finish is wearing far faster than my 2003 G22. People are sending their Glocks off to get a worn finish. I don't have to. It's just a Glock.

There is nothing wrong with the Gen 4 finish. If you’re concerned about the finish wearing then don’t get a Glock bc they’re made for hard use, which is going to cause wear. Get a Colt and put it in your safe to show off when friends come over. Just food for thought.

I do!!! Except that I will not buy a G43 until they make them ALL in 357SIG...a substantive improvement, not just a cosmetic one.

I LOVE my G43. No issues with it at all. I would buy another in a heartbeat if I had the spare cash. If the finish wears off, I’ll send it back to Glock to be refinished, but so far it’s just fine.

The slide of my G43 (that I bought in February) is already showing some holster wear, but it doesn’t really bother me. (I don’t now anthing about the gen.5 finish.) After all, it is a Glock, and the G43 is still my favorite.

I just don't like the way the little slab side single stack feels in my hand, instead preferring either the Shield in .40S&W:

...or the XDs 3.3 in .45ACP:

...or the Detonics Combat Master in .45ACP:

The above all fit my hand better, and have more pOcKeT pOwEr! than the G43 in 9mm.

It's great to have choices

I bought my 43 a couple of months ago, and it is a great pocket gun. If the finish is that important to you, good luck waiting, as long as you are not unarmed, well, ok.

I thought porn was against the rules here!:dancing: I went to my LGS about 2 months ago to buy the Shield, and instead bought the 43. That XDs and the Shield though are gorgeous.

This may be an answer for you as I just bought it this week and it is in my eyesight as I type this. It is an ETS 9 round magazine (clear by the way) for the Glock 43. I cannot attest to its operation, but I might just go to my local range and put it through its paces this morning.

Mine has the FDE finish. I like it. If OP wants to hold out for his dream gun, so be it. I’m guessing the rest of us will continue to enjoy our 43s. Get what makes you happy.
