I am aware of my audience and the forum to which I am posting this question but I am in the market for a gun and would like some input and some pictures:

G31 Gen 4 OR the Sig Sauer 5.56 pistol???

Thoughts, impressions, pictures and opinions are much appreciated!

Ready GO!

Thank you in advance.

Two other considerations: I wonder what the recoil would be like, and would the ballistics we worth a damn. I've always read that the .223 round isn't that effective in short barrels. It really needs high velocity to work. I guess if it's not for defense use, that doesn't matter. I would rather have the Glock. Now, if you said a P226 or P229, then I'd likely go for the Sig. I just don't see a use for the Sig. It seems like the kind of thing that would be cool to show off at the range . . . once. Then, it would just become a large waste of money.

Well the Sig 5.56 pistol is almost past too big for pocket carry and some find it uncomfortable in IWB holsters, so if either would be your favorite carry method it might not be the best choice...

@OP I just read your thread in the gen firearms forum and saw that what you really wanted was an mp5..but that costs about as much as a nice used car. If you want something even more like that they prolly make a 9mm ar pistol..maybe not sig but I am sure there are some quality ones out there. I think that would be a great alt to the hk mp5.

5.56 pistols are fun, but generally of little use. If you have the coin for the Sig you could get both a G31 and a Kel Tec PLR-16. The Kel Tec is piston driven and actually very good. I had one until I sacked up and got a stamp for a proper SBR. Never had a problem with it, definitely worth the $450 I paid for it new from CDNN. I may end up buying another one in the future.

I've owned the Kel tec 3AT and PF9 and had jamming issues with both. Sold them both. I know they tend to be ammo sensitive. But that experience has made me weary of kel tec.

I do like the PLR-16.

Have you had issues with it???

I agree on the P3AT, poor design when they tried to stuff the .380 into their P-32. I had 2 PF-9's, both were 100% reliable. I have owned a lot of KT products over the years, the only problematic ones were the 2 P3AT's I had.

My PLR-16 was very good, never a jam or problem in about 1500 rounds that I shot while I had it. I ran factory brass case, brass case reloads, and Wolf in it. I added the muzzle brake and foregrip from KT, neither was necessary but they looked cool. The factory sights suck, but a small red dot like a C-more or Burris Fast Fire works great on it. I only sold mine because I needed the cash to fund my SBR build. Like I said above, I may buy another.
