After numerous calls to gun shops around my area, I finally found what I was looking for... the HK45. Most of the dealers I called had no idea what it was. I even had a salesman say "HK45? Who is that made by?" The dealers that did have it charged $1100 + tax. Had to drive almost 2 hours to get it, but it was worth it. Used price of $900, but they offered to knock it down to $825 flat. Gun still had a bunch of grease on it and it only looked like it was factory shot. Can't wait to shoot it, and it even came with it's own RFID chip. Probably going to convert it to LEM when I get the chance and put some Meprolights on it.

Congratulations on purchasing the finest 45 ACP pistol in the world today.:wavey:

Just to be safe, mail that RFID chip to some remote mountain address
    in Tibet.

    You never know?:tinfoil:

You got a good buy even used if it looks almost new. They are the best polymer frame .45s'.

    Nice pistol.

Did you realize it's one of the new U.S. assembled HK45's?

I did. Is there a big difference between the German and US made?

Nice! And at a decent price. My shooting buddy uses his for carry, IDPA and USPSA. He took it to Pincus' "Combat Focus Shooting"--2100 rounds with nothing but oiling. We had everything from GLOCK, XD, even a MEUSOC 1911 there. The HKs and GLOCKs made the whole class, and nothing else did. (Pincus even bet the 1911 guy that if it went the whole class, he'd do a book on it) <heh heh heh>

100 rounds later and I think I made the right choice. Very manageable recoil and superb accuracy... and of course, no malfunctions.

Of course, it's an HK45! What did you expect? :dunno:

It only gets better and better from here.:wavey:

    Congrats!

I like mine a lot, but it wasn't quite ugly enough, so....

The American made ones still use mostly German parts, IIRC, only the frames are made in the USA.

You serious about the RFID chip?

I had no idea these came in any firearms...

I taped mine on the underside of an over-the-road 18 wheel truck.

That should keep them busy trying to track me!:whistling:

Nice gun, but what's the deal with the RFID chip anyway? I've never heard of one being on a gun before. Passports, unfortunately, yes. But guns...? :dunno:

Keeps track of SN, date of manufacture, round count, officer name, etc. I think it was created for LE/MIL in mind.

Excellent pistol! Mine is the only semi-auto I've ever owned to go more than 9,000 rounds without a single malfunction of any kind.

Here's the one I picked up last week:

The surefire X400 fits it perfectly. I locks up on the rail like a vault and the rear switch is easily activated without any grip modification, just like every other control on the HK. I was going to immediately replace the stock sights with Heinie's but with the light, that purchase has went down quite a bit on the priority list.
