I knew the first time I picked up a P30 that I wanted one. I've never handled a pistol that felt so comfortable in the hand. I was disappointed that it was only available in 9mm. Nothing wrong with the 9mm - I am just a .40 S&W fan. So, I waited patiently for the day they were finally available in .40 S&W. It seemed like it took forever, but I was very surprised to find one (and only one) at the gun show this weekend. I didn't even realize they were being made yet. I stopped to admire what I thought was a P30 9mm and check the current pricing. I was shocked when I saw that it was a .40 S&W! I jumped at the opportunity to buy it! Hopefully I will get some range time with it very soon!

    Looks great!

    Congrats.

    I've got a P30L on my list in 9mm.

I really like how the P30 feels in my hand as well, I just can't see paying $800+ for a polymer gun, but to each his own. I'm sure it will be a great gun.

    Nice!

That is a rare little gem right there. I love my P30. Probably the best transition pistols I own. And for some reason (have no clue why) it actually improves my non-dominant hand precision by at least 50% over other pistols.

You really want an external safety? Is this going to be a primarily a range pistol?

    What's the capacity? 12?

It's not even on their website yet.

If it's not a LEM trigger, I prefer love cocked-and locked. Even if I were to carry it DA/SA, I have no problem with a safety, since my thumb automatically goes to the safety lever, even if there isn't one. Also, there are documented cases of LEOS' lives being saved because the bad guy couldn't figure out how to make a gun go bang after snatching the LEO's gun that had the safety engaged.

Another thing I like about the P30S is the shortened slide stop lever. With my grip, I have to be careful that my thumb doesn't interfere with it, keeping the slide from locking back after the last round is fired:

Thirteen in the magazine. The P2000 in .40 holds twelve.

Congrats. I have friends waiting for the .40 S&W. I love mine in 9mm, but don't have any intention of getting the .40.

Mag capacity is 13. Also, I can't speak for others, but I did not pay $800+. I was very surprised that it was priced at $755. Not bad considering how hard they are to find right now. There is one on GunBroker and it's priced at $900.

As you can see in the pic, it does have the ambi external safety. It has the decocker on the back of slide. Personally, I don't mind the safety, as I frequently shoot/carry 1911's. Others may want a different option.

Now I just need to get out there and shoot the darn thing!

    Very cool.

The absolute perfect pistol ever, IMO, would be a P-30L 10mm with a .40S&W conversion barrel.

    very nice.

HK has a winner with the P30 and HK45. HK is really showing improvement over the years. I liked the p2000 but have never cared for the USP.

Very nice. I saw one at the show last weekend. I'm happy with my 9mm and have no intention to get the 40 but nice indeed. You got it at a great price.
