While I was cleaning and inspecting my new HK USPc 40 this morning I noticed a loose piece of plastic on the locking block.I pulled on it with tweezers and pulled about 1/4" piece off.Should I be concerned about it.I've found tiny pieces like that on Glocks before, but this is a large piece of plastic. The locking block is now bare metal on one side and covered in plastic on the other.I was rather shocked to find this on a $800 gun.
Should I send it to HK to have it inspected ?

No, actually it's destroyed. I'll give you $100 bucks for it.

Yes, it's normal. It will flake and then stop. You have a metal frame under there, and the polymer flashing will flake away.

my HE finish USPc 9 has 3K through it and looks like the initial pic. and my stainless USPc 9 has about 4500rds through it and looks like the initial pic.

my USPf 9 and my buddies USPf 9 have several thousand through them and look like that. my USPc .45 has about 2K through it and looks like that. my buddies 9mm p2000 had about 1K rounds through it and looked like that.

another thing all these HKs have in common. not a single failure, ever. its normal and fine.

if it starts not shooting send it in. my estimate of when that will happen would be never.

It's ONLY flashing. It's not structural, and it serves no purpose.
