I keep a list of firearms I want to own and I try to pick a couple of them up each year. I have HK on the list, but never knew which model I wanted. The P2000sk is a neat little gun but I can never talk myself into buying it. One of the gun shops had a HK 45C listed on their website as used so I thought I would check it out. Wow wow wow! The fit in my hand, the quality of the gun, the balance, it was just amazing. I really wanted a Sig 220, and I still plan on getting one, but the HK has now jumped over everything on my list and I plan on picking one up in a couple of months. Do any of you have this model and if so does it shoot well? The ergonomics fit me well, it honestly felt better in my hand than any handgun I have ever held. I am excited! Had the gun shop guys not ticked me off I would have put the one I saw yesterday on layaway. I guess I will just have to get a new one.

I've got one and I love it. Mild recoil (for a .45ACP), never jams and is far
more accurate than I'll ever shoot.

I replaced the "finger rest" magazine floorplates with flat ones from
    hkparts.net.
    http://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/viewcategoriesCustom.asp?idCategory=15

The HK45C uses the same magazines and mag floor plates as the USP 45C.
The flat floor plates make a big difference in size and handling.

the 220 isnt even in the same league as the HK45C.

I think this is the third post that I'm typing the same thing in.

Why the heck don't they make that lever come out the other side for us lefties.

I was on hold with them for an hour the other day to ask if a lefty version will be available and never got through.

I have had my 45c for about a year, and all I can say is that it is a fantastic gun to shoot. I also have the HK 45, but prefer to shoot the 45c because it is smaller and is quicker on target for me. It is a great gun. I have had many other smaller 45's (Colt Officers Model, Glocks 30 & 36, and a few others) and this is by far the best compact 45 I have shot.

After acquiring an HK45, the HK45c is now on my short list. I love my P220ST Carry Elite but the HK45c light weight with similar size & capacity is calling out for me.

I have the HK-45 & HK-45c. If I HAD to choose one to keep it would be the compact version. It's just the perfect size & shoots great.

Especially with all the MIM/shortcut parts Sig/USA is doing now. The clown from Kimber is determined to run Sig/USA into the ground.

As others have stated, when it comes to compact .45 Auto carry pistols, the HK45C really is in a league by itself. With a proper IWB holster and flat floorplate magazines, it hides every bit as easily and completely as a Glock 19.

I reload my practice ammunition, and with medium-power (for lack of a better term) loads I can shoot mine without aggravating my tendonitis. Two weeks ago, I put 600+ rounds through it in two days at a class, and never looked back.

I had to give up the .45 cartridge over 15 years ago because of that tendonitis. The buffered recoil system on the USP Compact .45 and the HK45C have allowed me back into the fold, so to speak.

Plus, its an HK. That pretty much says it all, despite what the haters and Glock/XD nimrods may think... ;)

    +1.

The HK45C IS in a class all by itself.

After a slow start, the HK45/HK45C pistols are gaining in popularity by leaps
    and bounds everyday.

Heckler and Koch has not succumbed to the cost cutting methods that
other manufacturers have and therefore they haven't suffered the corresponding
decline in quality that we've seen in other pistols.

Maybe that's the real reason HK pistols cost more?
Maybe that's why they're worth it.

The flat floorplates make all the difference in the world.
You'll never go back to the extended floorplates.

I went to a gun shop close to my folks today looking for .380 ammo and looked to see if they had the HK 45C and they did for $999.99. What are they priced in your neck of the woods?

I have had a USP .45 and a P2000sk .40. I loved both guns. I lean towards Glocks b/c they're cheaper, and do the same thing just as well.

    Indeed fun guns to have!

    It's a great pistol.

    Navy Goes HK

HK has won a contract to provide HK45 Compact pistols to the U.S. Navy special operations community, replacing the SIG P226 for personnel in certain roles. Specifically, the model will be the HK45C-SD with threaded barrel and special sights for intended use as a suppressed weapon, taking the place of the now-discarded Mk23 “SOCOM” pistol.

The HK45 and HK45c are full of MIM parts. Why dig on Sig for using MIM and give HK a pass for doing so?

Because none of the HK MIM parts (to my knowledge, anyway) are in critical areas.

Sig, OTOH, is now making the locking blocks MIM.
