HK 45c vrs Glock 21 ??

I'm thinking about another 45 to go with my PT 1911 I unexpectedly ended up with. The PT is fine so far. I reload all my ammo & wanted another 45 since I'm set up for reloading it. I do have a USP 40c that I shoot a fair amount & like better then my Glock 22 & 23. I probably wouldn't shoot it all that much & the HK 45c is about double the price of the Glock 21.

How's the comparison between the HK 45c & a Glock 21? The 21 seems easy to come by & the HK takes a little more looking. I know the USP 45 is out there too, but thought about jumping ahead to the HK 45c. I can usually get a little discount on the Glocks, 'blue label' boxes. I'll accept that the HK is more gun, but at double the price?? Thanks.

I think you answered your own question. sounds like you like HK, and not glock. Price is not the issue, save up, wait, look used, etc...But get the gun you want to shoot!

why do want another anyway? so it won't be lonely? Just because you CAN load for it doesn't mean you have o or that you need another gun...
Full sized 21 versus compact HK. I recently went thru this. A better comparison would be the Glock 30 versus USPc45.

Nothing like a good HK.
Yor right, I don't NEED one. It would be as much for the collection as for use. I'll try to put it off as long as possible. I like the lighter weight, mid 20 oz's or so, mostly for woods carry. I do have a few others that do fine though.

There is NO comparison between any HK and a Glock except that they are both firearms.

True dat!

Ummm... they both have polymer frames too. ;)
Since you already have the USP .40c, maybe consider the full size USP .45 some more (or maybe the HK45). The USPc .40 and .45 are very similar, except for caliber and capacity.

I have both, 7 Glocks and 5 H&K's. Enlighten me as to how H&K is head & shoulders superior to GLOCK?
Keep in mine the price of the HK is going to be 70% more than the
Glock. So, starting out you are comparing a Buick to a Cadillac.

With that said,....... if you have the cash, the HK is far superior

I don't know about "head and shoulders", but this one is simple for me. Remove the barrel from any one of your Glocks, and any one of your HK's. Take a cartridge in the caliber each shoots and insert it into the chamber. It will be fairly obvious which is a more precise fit. Now, if your HK's are as reliable feeding as your Glocks, why not have the more precise barrel?

<chuckles> We have identical numbers Goofa. I was going to ask the same question.

I love HKs. They are brutally tough and keep going when just about no other gun will; My 1993 USP40 broke a trigger bar at a match and fired another 150 rounds before I figured it out. ANY other gun, including GLOCK, would be in the dead cockroach position, but that USP40 just kept going (let's not talk about how that effected the trigger pull or the safety though) <g>

With that caveat--HKs are not as quick on the trigger as GLOCK. For Bill Drills, I can run my G22 about 15%-20% faster with good hits than I can run my USP40.

I Love my HKs and shoot my GLOCKS.

When comparing the 2 you have to also take into account any extras if any you would add to the Glock. Me personally, I don't have any Glocks currently, but when I do buy one there are a few things that are must haves "for me" because of how I like them setup for my personal preferences.

Night Sights
Smooth Trigger
Ghost Tactical 5.0 or (3.5 rocket) depends on use for said Glock
Extended Slide Stop
Grip Plug
Some type of grip enhancement

When I add all of this up it's not far off from an HK's price point. The HK doesn't need any extra's, a V1 functions like my 1911's and the SA trigger feels great. The grips feel better in "my" hands on the HK than the Glocks, and you can find HK's with night sights already for not much more than regular price if you look around.

So for "me" it's not a huge price difference, and the HK is easily worth $100 more or so after all the extras are factored into the price of the glock.

I also use to think why so much more $$ for an HK, but when you handle one and shoot it it's very obvious.

That being said Glocks still have their place, and I'm in no way bashing the glocks, I will own 1 or 2 again in the future. They just require more tinkering whereas the HK is good to go right out of the box, and the quality is better.

Just my $0.02 :wavey:

The Glock 21 is as reliable as an anvil....but it is rather bulbous.

The HK45/45C feels as trim as my M&P45...which is saying something.
I couldn't get the HK-45 out of my head. I ordered one from a fellow glock-talker. I didn't need a compact one & got the regular hk-45. I did read at least one review that the DA trigger pull was on the high side & even the SA pull was high with a lot of travel during the pull. This was from a gun writer on V1 of course. I'll see for myself.

I've been liking HK's for many years now. I still think the 91 is the "Rolls Royce" of battle rifles when compared to other similar types of rifles of its time.
My brother has a full size USP in .45 ACP. Sweet gun.

I did find this thread interesting though. Read all the way through.

If you do get the Glock 21 also look and handle the 21SF. I've had both the HK 45C and both the Glock 21 and 30 in the past. Still have the HK as I shoot it better and frankly feel safer with the HK than I do with Glock's Safe Action Trigger. Not to safe to me.

You only need to look at General Glocking any given day. FTF, FTE, jams, failure to return to battery, parts breaking and/or falling off. Of course, problems are dismissed as operator error, bad ammo, etc. The whole GLOCK super-reliability thing is way overblown.

Funny how you rarely see anything like that here. No need for such nonsense excuses. The difference in quality is obvious; the internals on an HK look like a Swiss watch, the internals of a GLOCK look like they were made by a drunk medieval blacksmith. Dropping the slide on an HK is like sealing a bank vault, dropping the slide on a GLOCK is like slamming a screen door.
...How's the comparison between the HK 45c & a Glock 21? ...
Comparing apples to oranges - it wont work, only similarity is polymer construction/caliber...one is a compact carry pistol, the other a large full size duty weapon.

I did get an afternoon with the HK45C - its a great shooter and very accurate for a compact...with the right IWB it will conceal well. Even at almost twice the price with the HK Lifetime Warranty, its alot more pistol than the G21.

Gently used HK45C are going for nice prices, hopefully that takes the sting out of the MSRP. Last test I read on the HK45C, it out shot 2 other full size polymer .45 pistols in the test, and garnered the highest marks overall.
