I live in Mass. , the state that was previously owned by "The Kennedys". Thur. I am going to Hilton Head to spend school vaca with my grandkids. Does anyone know of a good gun shop in the area ,so I don't have to waste time. The whole idea is to spend time with them, but who knows one of my granddaughters may want to go with me. Please pray for favor on my part. GOD Bless! BRR

ATP gunshop in Goose Creek near Charleston is about an hour and a half away. They have a sweet indoor range, and all kinds of goodies. I highly recomend it. Plus, if you've never seen Charleston, a loop around rainbow row is worth the drive.

They have some colorful old buildings in Charleston. It is a great city with a lot of history and cool stuff to see. I recommend it. Good way to sneak in some learning for the kids without them realizing that's what you have done.

Now, back to gun shops and stuff which I am no help with.

Being from Mass. makes me a little gun shy of places named like "rainbow row" I don't want to spend my time explaining things to my grandkids. P-Town on Cape Cod last summer was enough.

Palmetto State Shooting Center in Okatie is the closest to Hilton Head. It has a very good indoor shooting range.

The selection of firearms is small and somewhat pricey. They will put pressure on you to buy their ammo to use at their range. Targets are a buck each. They rent pistols to shoot too. I think there is another indoor range/gun shop in Ridgeland SC but I have no experience with them.

Rainbow row is a street of mansions right in the Charleston Harbor. The houses are amazing. Lot's of history. Bill Murray owns one of the houses. The Yorktown is a Must See! And ATP has more guns than you could ever imagine. Class III stuff as well. MP5's and the like hanging on the wall. Very cool.

If you've never been to Hilton Head trust me there is enough there to keep yourself busy and not worry about a 2 hour drive to visit Chucktown. I don't think they've raised the speed limit back up on 17 North so that 40-45 mile section of the drive at 45-55 mph really sucks.

Rainbow Row and the Charleston Battery are awesome, but I don't go on vacation to drive 4 hours (2 each way) to go somewhere else. Other cities like Beaufort, SC or Savannah, GA are closer if you have to get away for the day........but I'd just stay around HH.
