Cabelas has had some pretty good prices on Herter's ammo. I've never used it. They're metal cases but polymer plastic coated. I'm just looking for cheap practice/plinking 9mm, 40 S&W and 45 ACP ammo. Is this stuff any good?

    Thanks, NYH!

Ill give you a dollar if you can guess what company makes herters....hint, it's Russian. Looks like wolf, runs like wolf, tastes like wolf. Must be wolf. It works, had trouble loading the 33rd glock mag full of it, might just be the steel vs. brass lubricity.

It states right on the website it's Russian made ammo.

    9mm is $11.99 / 50rds.

Walmart sells brass cased, American made 9mm all day long for $9.47 / 50rds.

    That's a trick question.

The steel cased ammo with the double-arrow symbol on the headstamp is made by Ulyanovsk of Russia.

The brass cased .380 Auto is made by Pt.Pindad of Indonesia.

    Now hand over that dollar!

Its essentially wolf grade ammo. I never buy wolf or any other russian stuff unless its under $8.00/50rds(9mm). Any more than that its not worth it. Google it looks like most problems are with their .45acp rounds.

The last I knew, the Walmarts in my area didn't have any pistol ammo. They stopped selling it about two years ago.

I stopped by Walmart this morning and to my surprise, their ammo cabinets were pretty full. The fullest they've been in a long time. I bought 2 boxes of Winchester White Box USA Ammo (100 rds. boxes). One box of 9mm 115 gr. $19.97 and one box of 40 S&W 165 gr. 29.97. They were out of WWB 45 ACP so I bought a 50 rd. box of Remington UMC 230 gr.

They also had a bunch of 100 rd. boxes of shotgun #7 & #8 shot for both 12 and 20 ga. for just over $20. 15 rd. slugs packs for $8. I wanted 15 rd. buckshot packs, but they didn't have it. I'll have to keep checking back for WWB 45 ACP. I've had good luck with both WWB and UMC ammo for just plinking.
