Anyone have any experience with this ammo? Sold by Bass Pro and Cabela’s as their house brand.

I’ve shot around 600 rounds of the Herter’s .40 S&W through my Glocks. It was 180 grain and hotter than the S&B and Magtech 180 grain that I normally use. I had no malfunctions.

I decided to hold off on purchasing 9mm until prices went back to normal/reasonable. Last week, I saw the Herter’s 9mm for .17 per round. So, I ordered 1,000 rounds of the 115 grain.

Most reviews are very positive, but there’s always a few that call it the worst ammo ever. From what I can tell, it was previously made by S&B, but it’s now made by Winchester. So, I’m guessing that it’s basically WWB.

It's good to go. Do you know if that price is also good in store?

That price was gone by the next day.

Online prices are good in store if your local store has it in stock.

Steel core like their 7.62x39? If so, many ranges won't let you shoot it.

I have, among many other brands over the years, bought a good deal of Herter's 223 soft point brass case ammo. Runs flawless in my AR. I think for 'factory ammo,' Herter's does a good job...

I also really miss the really 'thick' Herter's catalog that used to have back in the early 70's. There was so many really cool items in there for trapping and hunting, archery, everything. Don't find it like that anymore!

I purchased off of the Cabela’s website last week. However, at that price, it was out of stock by the next day. It has already shipped and is due to arrive Tuesday.

I was at the range this morning and someone a few bays down was shooting Herter’s 9mm. Seemed to run just fine for them.

Just a heads up before you walk out of the store with your ammo...

Before the plandemo hit us, i was going to buy some Herter`s FMJ 45acp from basspro, they had a decent price on the 45acp at that time. I opened a couple boxes at first to look the ammo over, and found that 15 out of the 20 boxes i checked, a bunch of the ammo in each of the 15 boxes i inspected had severe bullet setback. Averaged around 10+ rounds in each 50rd box had major bullet setback. Some of these bullets were shoved way down into the case from the OEM OAL! I`m sure the bullets couldnt go any further due to the powder charge in the case. I didnt bother opening the last 5 boxes, the obvious was already there at that point. Now here`s the kicker... not a one of any of the boxes that the ammo were in, were damaged. Its very obvious that this happened before the ammo was ever put into the boxes.

I`m not saying this to beat up on Herter`s as this can can happen with ANY brand name of ammo. But nontheless, check your ammo, if you can, before you buy it. The picture i posted is NOT the ammo i bought, i just posted this picture to show reference to what i was seeing with the Herter`s that day. This is exactly what it looked like when i pulled them out and set them upright on the counter.

Rumors are all over the place as to who is making Herter`s branded ammo today. Some people say Tula, some say Winchester... who the hell even knows anymore. But one thing is for sure, there seems to be quite the problem with quality control these days with ANYTHING you buy. Buyer beware!

I here ya amigo. I pick up a box of "whatever," every now and then on sale or something, as well, to play with, 'and' keep brass. The Herter's I got were ALL 223, but all perfect. That box you got is a mess!

    Things gone "sideways," is right!

Went to the range today and shot 200 rounds of the Herter's 9mm 115 grain target ammo. 100 rounds through a CZ Shadow 2, and another 100 through a Tri-Star C-100 (CZ Compact clone). It was the first shots though the C-100.

All 200 rounds ran without any issues. So, if I see this ammo again for .17 per round, I'm buying more of it.
