How can I change the text size and/or make the desktop text easier to read. I have been able to go to:

    control panels
    display
    appearance
    advanced

    Then I am stuck.

I am at the point where the header area is large enough but the text is hard too read.

I have used the "view" on the tool portion of internet expeplore with the "text" being set on large.

I think you're in the right area. There are actually a few different things you can do depending upon what, exactly, you need to enlarge.
    1. The easiest and most all-encompassing way to size everything larger is by changing the screen resolution (Display>Settings>Screen Resolution slider bar)
    2. Or, you can adjust screen font resolution to something larger than the default 96 DPI (Display>Settings>Advanced>General>DPI Setting)
    3. Finally, if it is just the window headers, icons, menus, message boxes, etc... (Display>Appearance>Advanced). Then select the particular item and change the Font size.[/list=1]
Let me know if this helps.
