...I would suggest plunking down the 14.99 for a new keyboard
Make sure the keyboard and mouse connections are plugged in solidly.
Go to Control Panel, Keyboard and check the speed of "repeat" keying as this may be causing your problem. If that doesn't solve it, just buy a replacement keyboard, they are dirt cheap.
For some odd reason, a USB cable that's not attached to anything but still plugged into a port may cause your computer to go into a self typing mode.
yep, sounds like key repeating delay was turned way down, maybe some accessability options enabled, and the mouse buttons reconfigured (usually clicking a link with your scroll wheel button opens the link in a new window, but it can be re-configured to be any key)
If they are USB keyboard and mouse, try switching USB ports on the PC.If you have 2 USB ports on the back I think it's best for the keyboardto uee the outside port and mouse on inside port. This may not hold true on all PC's but some are sensitive to which USB port the keyboard is using.
Ok, I got the computer fixed. It was the keyboard, one of the buttons must have been stuck like shift or a function button or something. Keyboards gone wild! I did a system restore but that didn't fix the problem. So I uninstalled the keyboard and bingo, the problem went away. Except then I couldn't type anymore. So I bought a new keyboard and everything is back to normal! Thanks for the help, yeah it was kinda funny, but frustrating too.
