It was an interesting casting choice of Lloyd Bridges as a German when they had a perfectly real German from " Rat Patrol " and " Combat " right there in the movie.

Well, that is what they had back then. Even the movie "Patton" was stuck with "modern" tanks.

The recent Russian movie "T-34" is a very mediocre movie, BUT... the tanks!! At the beginning of the movie, the Germans are shown with pretty darn accurate armor for the beginning of the war with Russia. I think they are shown with a Pz38 - an extremely common tank for Germany at the beginning of WWII, but you rarely see it in movies or even documentaries.

(not meaning to highjack thread, but...)

I just found a YouTube clip of it. Now I think it was a Panzer II that I am thinking about... but there might be a Pz38 mixed in there somewhere. Either way, what was any previous movie with a PzII ?? Also the movie has short barreled PzIV, and I think 50mm Panzers. By the end of the move they correctly transition to T34/85 and Panther tanks. I wish it was a better movie, but I found it worth watching.

Russia has a few big tank museums, so I imagine they have the pick of the litter when doing tank movies!

That's just a good aerodynamic design. Balsa models of P 40's will fly better than a Mustang or Spitfire. Way better!

I had a balsawood model of one with the glow plug engines and then skin you wet and stretch over the frame too me forever to build and crashed it on about the 5th flight. My dad had a ME-109 and I later had a P-38 lightning that took about 4 months to build and put together the P 38 was so cool with the 2 engines, sad part is they were the versions you would fly in a big circle never did a full remote version. Those and the rockets kept us busy on weekends.
