I bought my daughter a used laptop(Dell 610 Latitude), for use at school.
Every things works, except when she tries to download updates.
She gets an error msg. that she is not logged on as admin!
I checked & her profile is set up as an admin.

Sounds like it may have been set to a group.

To check go to a CMD window (start->run->CMD) and type:

    whoami /groups

See if you're a member of the administrative group.

Do exactly that and log into safe mode and then choose Administrator and make her account administrator. Change her to user and restart and go back and change her to Administrator sometimes happens with older installs. Should work.
