Ok guys, I've got a problem with AdAware. Every time I try to run a scan it hangs on the same file in my system32 folder. It also hangs just after finding one file it recognizes as spy/malware. I shut down my AV and it still hangs in the same spot after finding what I assume to be the same file.

Any suggestions on how to find the file that doesn't belong, or how to prevent adaware from hanging?

DL'ed and ran spybot SD, then ran adaware again. Still hanging on the same spot afte finding the same file in the system32 folder.

I just want to know what is in my system32 folder that is being tagged as spyware. Since adaware is hanging, the scan isn't finishing, so its not telling me what I need to go after in that folder.

Have you tried running Adaware in safe mode????? That may help. Just restart your computer and press F8 (i think that's right) to restart in safe mode. The file it is hanging up on may be part of a running malware program and it shouldn't be running while in safemode. Hope this helps (i'm no computer nerd)

Are you using Ad Aware 6?

If so, I'd recommend upgrading to Ad Aware Pro SE.
It's got a few improvements and may not have the same problem your current one does if you're using 6.

Here is a download link to AdAware SE. I hope this helps.
