I have an opportunity to get this 1911 A1 with caspian receiver, SA Slide, & tasco scope. What is a ballpark this firearm is worth?

looks like a gun built for bullseye shooting- these will vary based on build quality and such- if built by someone like clark or other nationally recognized smith they can go for over a grand. if built by bubba in the basement or a local unknown smith a lot less. A fair place to start would be the value of a SA milspec plus all the optics and such- say 6-700 bucks.

The Tasco red dot optic is just about worth zero to me. Also, that's an action gun and not a bullseye gun. Without knowing what was done to it and by whom, I wouldn't even give $600 to me. If I were offered to buy that gun, I'd pay no more than $300 for it.

Why the lowball? Because I'm taking a hell of a chance on this gun. If it doesn't work (bubba-rized), then how many hundreds of dollars will I need to invest into it to make it run again?

I tend to agree with fnfalman on this one. The TASCO red dot is worthless and there is no telling what was done to the pistol. With a cheap optic mounted to it, what else was done on the cheap. I would spend my hard-earned money on something else.

It is a VERY limited use pistol. Unless you specifically compete in that type of action event what will you do with it?

Nothing wrong with a Tasco PDP-3 scope. My wife prefers it to the C-More. Admittedly, it doesn't add any value to the gun.

Problem with this gun is it's geared for action, but doesn't have the capacity to be competitive.

If it shoots well and you really want it, I'd say $300 max.

To me it looks like a pile of junk, quite frankly.

Shoot it and see how well it works and if you like it. For the low price you quoted it is worth it. Ditch the scope and rail and you will have a good shooter 1911.

It's possible it will clean up nice. Who'd of thunk this had a PDP3 Tasco Scope and 3 port compensator on it at one time?

One giveaway, the scope mount hole in front of the slide stop.

looks like a hard baller long slide. 7" of pain! as for the pistol, id drop 300 on it if it shot well. but probbaly not much more.

These AMT Longslides are selling anywhere from $700-$900 these days. I would love to have a nice one myself.

7-900? i think thats a good price. thing is, by now most used hardballers(standard or LS) probbaly have had some work done to smooth out the bugs or are in NIB condition. ive dumped probbaly 7-800 down the pipe on my hardballer since i got it and love it. love it more now i put in a stronger recoil spring so it will eat anything
