My buddy back in the day had a really sweet shooting 1911. It was a Smith and Wesson Tactical in .40 I believe. It was all stainless steel, and didn't have any mods done to it like a wood grip or anything. I shot that gun like it was an extension of my hand. I would LOVE to own one, but I don't know what model it was. I have lost touch with him so I can't ask him. I want to say he paid around $900 for it, and this was back in ~2000. Any 1911 expert that has any idea which model this could have been? I know for sure he said it was a tactical, and I am 90% sure it was a .40. I want a .45 myself, but I really liked the way this one felt and shot. Thanks.

You are probably talking about the performance center 1911 like gun they were producing at the time. Was not a true 1911 and I don't remember the name..... PC945 possibly.

^ It is the 2nd one, the tactical. Nice find! Is that a good gun? I shot it amazingly well, but he ended up having to send it back to Smith 2 or 3 times due to constant jamming issues. When it was working it was a tack driver, but he got fed up with it after all the issues.

I'm gonna guess it was likely an issue with that particular firearm.

It is a good gun if you can shoot it well and it's reliable.

Good guns, but not even close to a 1911 in design.
Now that I see the picture I see that. Back in ~03 when I last shot it, I didn't know a thing about 1911s, so I just assumed it was one. But yeah, the second I saw that pic posted above I knew it was not a 1911. My gf said she would get me a Dan Wesson for Christmas, so maybe I should just wait for that. :wow:
