I don't know what it is, but I can say that it is not a Springfield. It looks more like a European musket of some type, maybe Belgian, German or an amalgamation of various foreign and/or American arms ala Bannerman.

I got this off of the family of the fellow that carried it in the War of Northern Aggression as a member of the 14th Connecticut Volunteers. The 14th Conn. were at many CW battles including Gettysburg.
