You have more than enough to get rid of it. Update everything and reboot into safe-mode. Run your scans from there.

    +1

Press F8 while rebooting to get to safe mode.

    If that doesn't work.

    Start
    Run
    MSCONFIG
    OK
    Click BOOT.INI tab
    Check Safeboot
    Restart

    When done in Safe mode,
Follow above, but instead of BOOT INI tab, on the General Tab, check Normal Start up, Then Restart.

SpywareBlster is a keeper.Great program.I would ditch the CWShredder,Adaware,Spybot,HiJackThis and MS Antispy.Ewido is better than all these combined.I would find out how to properly unistall the version of Norton you have and replace it with Comodo. If you have Windows XP with SP2 you don't need Google toolbar.Comodo also has an excellent firewall.Another good spyware scanner http://majorgeeks.com/SUPERAntiSpyware_d5116.html

Thats an old and very annoying virus. I've cleared it from several PC's w/o to much hassle.

Run your AV software in safe mode, you'll clear it.

Have any of you guys run into an Adware/spyware trojan generator called "Spy Sheriff"? It tries to disguise itself as an anti virus software, but it is crap! And it is stubborn! Ive run the latest versions of Avast and Spy Bot search and destroy. This thing will not die. I will run my AV software in safemode when I get off the night shift but are there any other tips you all might have?

    Thanks

It's wise to run any junk clearing software(AV, Spyware, etc,) software in Safe Mode if you ask me.

I've seen SpySweeper remove Spy Sheriff.I would go with Ewido first as it stays free and finds just about everything.

The shareware part is for automatic updates and it "blocks" spyware, like Sptwareblaster does. After the "trial",the updates can still be downloaded and scans can be done but it nolonger monitors the system.

Okay, this is the 5th day of this nightmare.

I ran some scans in safe mode ... nothing.

I ran Ewido and it did find downloader.Conhook.aa

    downloader.Conhook.aa is my problem.

I then ran HijackThis and noticed these two entries...

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {071f6964-154e-4c29-be99-ace3b0242706} - C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\dxdmgr.dll

    O20 - Winlogon Notify: dxdmgr - C:\\WINDOWS\\SYSTEM32\\dxdmgr.dll

I then went to http://virusscan.jotti.org/ uploaded and scanned one file... this one... C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\dxdmgr.dll

    It came back as downloader.Conhook.aa

So I tried to delete it from the HijackThis panel, but when I scanned again it was still there. Then I went to the SEARCH file function, I found it but it also would not let me delete it.

For the love of the three stooges someone help me!!

Okay this one is bit more involved but should work well.Download, save, install RegAuditor.

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/RegAuditor_d5049.html

Run the program,Left click, one at a time each thing in the list. They should highlight in blue.Do this one at a time. Then right click the highlighted item.Choose open or show in regedit.I forget the exact wording. It will show the registry. The item highlighted in blue on the far left of the screen should be right clicked and choose delete.Do this for each item in the original list. Then run the scan again.
