I need the opinions of people who think more along the lines of me. If I asked this on a more Liberal forum, they'd tell me to grow up.

So....perhaps I'm being a baby. But since the election, this has been slowly wearing on me, and I've come to a time where I need to ask this to a broader audience, and see what response I get.

Here's the problem....

I, like many of you, voted for Trump. I'm not one of his blind, hat-wearing followers....there are plenty of things I disagree with him about, which are not relevant to this current discussion, so I'll leave it at that.

But....many things that I like are Left-based, or Left-biased. Sports, music, TV, etc etc.

In Anime, of which I'm a big fan of, many voice artists are very Liberal. This includes a woman, a voice-actress, whom I've come to despise based on her childish, narrow-minded bigotry of Trump on Twitter; Jamie Marchi. She's quite a piece of far-Left work, but she's voiced characters in tons of Anime. And apparently, I'm not the only one who's got a hair up about her....she's pissed a few people off for putting her feminist spin on characters or shows that were not written as such in the Manga in which they were based on.

Then there's Ken Burns, who I just found out about 10 minutes ago is a Hillary-loving Trump hater:

I really like this guy's documentaries. In fact, I'm on episode 3 online of his 1994 documentary about Baseball. And he's coming out with a documentary later this year about Vietnam, which I really want to see.

I already stopped watching Conan O'Brien back when he called for banning "assault rifles". And I was his biggest fan back when he was the host of Late Night. Since then, he's gone almost completely far-Left with the guests he brings on (one actually tried to burn a Trump tie), and Andy Richter's tweets. So I don't regret switching him off.

But at this rate, I'm not going to have anyone to watch, listen to, or things to enjoy. I already don't watch mainstream programming, or watch mainstream news. I prefer to get my things online, where I can pick and choose what I see.

So my question here is this: am I being a baby about these things? I can't stand snowflakes.....am I being one myself?

I love these things, but I REALLY don't like far-Left BS and emotional Liberal nonsense.

What do you think, GlockTalk? Should I roll my eyes and put up with it? Or should I just slowly cut off that programming which offends me?

What should I do? And do I need to grow up?

Separate the performance from the politics.
I expect actors and film makers to entertain me and if they do it well, I am satisfied.
I couldn't care less what their political philosophy is.

Unless they want to open their mouths and speak from their ivory towers about it. There are some egregious examples in hollywood that I will not give my money to anymore. Quentin tarantino is one example.

To me the solution seems painfully simple. If you are more offended than entertained don't watch. If you are more entertaind than offended, watch.

There is a larger problem of a society that continues to get more complex to look more for simple yes - no answers to questions that are far more complicated than that. It can cause us to be confused when someone is charged with a shooting in one jurisdiction when the same may not be charged in another jurisdiction. It can cause confusion and political gridlock when we want to judge someone as being either for us or against us, when in reality not everyone will always sit on the same side of an issue which n turn causes an inability to compromise.

I told my father a couple months back that Tarantino was suddenly and vehemently anti-gun. He thought that was hilariously funny.

Consider: you go and see a movie or listen to a music recording and you enjoy it.
Later, you discover that the musical artist, film maker and actors in the movie are all vocal hippie socialists.

Do you now enjoy their work less?
Why?

Write the advertisers and/or production companies a letter or email and tell them you don't appreciate the side-helping of politics with your entertainment, and if they want to keep you and your family/friends watching, they'd better knock it off. Repeat every time you see more of it.

And then do what tous suggested, in post #2, above.

Best of all worlds; gets you some stress relief, puts the advertisers/media-makers on notice so they don't have to wonder why they're losing audience (advertisers WILL pull ads if they enough letters/emails), and allows you to watch the shows/actors you want.

Personally, if I know some actor is a scumbag anti-gunner, then I really can't enjoy watching them use guns in a movie (knowing their hypocrisy), so I refuse to buy tickets or DVDs that support their careers, at least for a few years. Some are on my permanent-ban list, but most of them are sucky actors anyway, so I'm not really missing out on anything.

The `movie` is fake and one enjoys the `fakeness`...but hate the reality of the performer...

Falcon--don't feel alone on this; many in my church claim to have stopped watching the national MSM "news" (except for Bartiromo, Varney, Dobbs, and a couple of other conservatives on Fox), and anti-gun ******* hypocrites like Matt Damon, Liam Neeson, and several others who make their living with prop "guns" but don't want us to have them. The latest to disappoint me is Charles Krauthammer, who has come out as an enemy of Trump. And yet, we can't bury our heads in the sand; there are sometimes issues for which we should call our congressmen and senators.

It blows my mind to think that the way you think is the only correct way to think.

You think the way you do for a reason. It's a complex reason and many experiences, learning, people, and things contributed to the way you think. But so did things happen to others as well. There are reasons for the way they think as well.

And despite what people on GT would like you to believe, liberals are not liberal just because they are stupid. Believing being politically far right is the only correct way is almost just as bad as thinking your religion is the only one going to heaven. It's silly.

It's perfectly OK to think the way we do but very naive to believe it's the only correct way of thinking. Everyone has their reasons for acting, thinking, living the way they do. The only person you truly understand is yourself.

My favorite part about living in the USA is the fact that liberals have the right to express their views. Because that means I do as well. And so does everyone else.

I understand, amigo, but you are attempting to create a correlation between two things that are irrelevant to each other.

Again consider. If you have a wonderful meal at a restaurant, the wonderfulness of the meal has no relationship to the Chef's personal or political opinion, no?

If you discovered that the chef affirmed your views, would the meal taste any better?
If he disapproved of your views, would the meal taste worse?
If you never discovered the chef's opinions, would the meal be more tasty or less tasty?

I have listened to NPR for over 30 years, became absolutely addicted back when pretty much only classical stations at the bottom end of the FM dial carried them. I was listening for the music, and NPR was the filler between songs, until it wasn't.

It has been totally worth it listening to 'Marketplace' the past 7 months, as the market booms again after the election they have pared it down to about 3 minutes, just the facts, ma'am. During the Obama years a 20 point gain at closing was followed by 5 minutes of analysis about why this is the best economy ever, and any losses were sort of swept under the rug. Somewhere there is a landfill full of those sweepings.

Enough gloating, the left contributes a tremendous amount to quality of life, and the only reason I can think of there isn't a bounty on them. The direction the liberal mind goes in is very creative in the arts, in entertainment, in music. There is a basic desire for fairness that while flawed, is still filled with good intentions, that while somewhat delusional spins fantastic tapestries of escapism. We all want the good guys to win in the end, we sometimes disagree about just who that might be.

In matters of reality, the conservative mind leads the parade. The liberal mind provides the music and the cheerleaders. It takes both to make a representative republic work, a constant system of give and take for the public attention.

Im talking about movies amigo....I can like a movie....and hate the real life actors views...

Translation:...I pay to be entertained...(Movie)...but I dont have to like the actors views in real life..a and I can criticize their views through tweets and comments...two different realities...and I can choose to like or dislike either...
