If you send me the serial number I might be able to find it in my Smith and Wesson book.

If it's a .38, I would say it looks like an old Model 10 pencil barrel....

It is a Military & Police .38 Hand Ejector made before 1955.
    If made after 1948, a collector would call it a "pre-Model 10."

The number you show under the yoke is NOT the serial number, that is a "fitting number" used only to keep parts together at the factory. The legal serial number is on the bottom of the butt. Depending on age, it may well also be on the bottom of the barrel and the rear of the cylinder, but the frame serial number is what counts.

    Never mind

Pre-WW II S&W Military and Police, probably from the 1920s, would be my guess.

I have this link saved in my bookmarks.

Not even close to being a S&W expert, but I thought serial 307018 would be 1954 – 56.

C Series K Frames: (Fixed Sight Models)

    C1 - C233,999………….....1948 – 52
    C236,004 – C261,483…….1953

    Capt. Jack....

I am not trying to beat up on you but.... You have a bit to learn about grading older handguns, specifically, Smith and Wessons.

That pistol would grade as "fair".... maybeeeee, if I took my glasses off and stood far enough away "good".

In my world, "pre-Covid", baring some unusual story, you are looking at a $250.00 gun.

With the craziness going on now, I could not guess as to a value.

If the serial number is "307018" (300K not 30K) that would put it here:
    1915-1942...........241,704-1,000,000
