And I'm not talking about temperatures. ;)

OKAY - Start computer and boot up.
OKAY - Launch an application (e.g. GT)

THEN.... (after a few mouse clicks)
    - Monitor freezes up.
CPU Usage shows 100% (with Hard Drive still clicking away slowly)

    - Moments later the Keyboard freezes up.

    - After futile mouse clicks, the Monitor screen goes white - but still shows top line above Menu Bar
("Glock Talk - post New Thread - Netscape Browser").

    - Minutes pass and screen and keyboard function returns.
Then, CPU usage fluctuates breifly between 17% - 23% BEFORE SPIKING again up to 100% and repeating the cycle.

    ACTIONS TAKEN
    - Using Zone Alarm
    - Using AVG (anti virus)
    - Ran Windows Disk Cleaner
    - Ran Trend Mirco Virus checker
    - Ran ErrorKiller (registry cleaner)
    - Ran Adware Alert
    - Ran Ad-Aware SE personal
    - ATF cleaner

    RESULTS
    No change. :-(

    What is my next step?

    Thank you.

I have bad news and I have good news.

    Spyware, malware, adware, viri, etc.

Did you have a firewall, anti virus up to date, spyware tools running on boot up?

If not download the free tools off the web with another PC and burn a CD. Boot your PC and press F* quickly during boot, if you get a keyboard error allow it to continue and press F8 repeatedly.

Go to the menu and choose safe mode.

Go to the CD and run the tools to look for Virus, spy/mal/adware and setup a firewall if you can, some tools won't install in safe mode.

    Reboot.

I have found that some infections require a re-imaging of the PC to fix it. From a Recover CD/DVD/ or boot option menu.

    Best wishes. ;)

After conferring with a friend, he told me of HIS problems with Netscape 8.

    THAT's the problem!
I'm changing over to Firefox after this posting. :)

My friend was also recently experiencing the SAME PROBLEMS on both of his machines using NETSCAPE 8.

    Me too.

I've spent most of this afternoon burning back-up copies of my images (for work and family stuff), and archiving everything else of value just in case.

I had it narrowed down to Nutscrape as well, thanks for the confirmation in knowing I'm not alone. I can't -stand- IE (and that's what I'm using right now since I'm completely frustrated) and I guess I'll be switching to Firefox in a few minutes too. Gotta do the download/install routine and nuke Nutscrape.

My issues with it started a few days ago too (maybe three days??), is there some correlation with some update done behind the scenes perhaps for folks to be having the same issue all at once (Douglas, I'm experiencing the SAME problems you are/were)?
