    Hi all,

I'm going to get another Glock, and I'm having a tough time trying to decide between the G17 and G34. I have a G19 that I use for CCW, so the 17 or the 34 don't have to fill that role, I've looked at the specs on both, the 34 is a little heavier and a little longer than the 17 but it isn't enough to worry about, so how do I decide--Help

    thanks

I too would go with the 34 if you are set on staying with 9mm, but sometimes, havinga variety can be nice, maybe a 35, or a 22

I own all the Glocks in 9mm and prefer the size of the G17 to the G34. The G34 and the 17L are slightly longer than I like a pistol to be but the G34 is a popular range gun.

Add my vote in the 34 column only because 17L's are hard to find.

34, hands down, no doubt about it. Get it and don't look back.

    I'd go 34 as well.

I am planning a non-glock, glock custom build in the next 2 or so months and was considering a 17, but being it will be a range gun, not a carry or home pro. gun, I am thinking the extra couple bucks for the 34 slide & ported barrel might be more fun!

Well worth it in my opinion.

I remember feeling like I had robbed the gunstore after paying $600 for mine, then shooting 100 rounds through it at the range. I added truglow sights (and a piece of innertube lol) for shooting IPSC, but it's bone stock otherwise. I'm not convinced it needs anything else unless you buy one for home defense, then add CTC laser.

Plus. They just look cool.

Edit: I forgot, some people carry them. Same size as 1911 pretty much. I've carried mine several times in an OWB holster under a jacket.

Personally, I would get the G17.
But, a G34 would not be a bad decision.

G34. I have a 17L, but the 34 carries a little better for me. I sold my 17 with regrets, and replaced it with the 34, no regrets. It is the size of a 1911, and is a great shooter.

I've got both and I like the 17 better. I'm not quite sure why. The 34 is awesome, but the slide is...busy. It feels as if you spend a lot of time searching for and maintaining the sight picture. Personally, I've just concluded that there's nothing I can do with my 34 that I can't do with my 17. It's definitely a win-win situation, but I like the 17 better.

I felt the exact same way until I put a new set of sights on. $60 made a night and day difference. Yes, the gun is dirty:
