Welcome, guys! Though you can't carry (yet) here in the Bay Area, there are still many fine ranges at which to shoot.

I'll say hello to anyone brave enough to post here these days.

Put another log on the fire, mix yourself a warm toddy, call the dog to your feet....and jump right in. Listen and read a lot, make sure when talking about something specific...and not just giving your opinion, that you know what you're talking about. As best you can anyway, but don't be afraid to share your thoughts as well. Bunch of folks here who know a lot more, about a lot more than I do. I'm not afraid to learn from 'em.

Main thing, have fun. It's great to hear the opinions of others...gives one a better view of the world. Don't get caught up in that trap of thinking your beliefs are the way of the rest of the world, but always be ready to share your opinion on things. And be polite, no one wants to talk to a knothead, eh?

    And again, have fun.

Nothing like a bit of new blood and differing ideas.

    Welcome.

Welcome! Save your change and buy a Sig or 1911 instead of a Glock.

Good list of places to shoot: Link

Each range will have specific rules on how firearms are transported/handled on range property. As for the state, however, read this link: Link to CA DOJ

If you're a new shooter, you would likely benefit from a course offered at many of the local ranges. This will probably help you decide which gun would best work for you.

Thanks robin- i spent a couple of summers in Galveston back in the 80s. You shure have a great state out there!

Blunoise, the San Leandro range looks pretty nice- and they offer classes to! They dont' rent guns so Ill' have to wait a couple of months till i get a glock! Im definitly going to take one of there clases!

Geko- why is a Sig or 911 better than a glock? They cost a lot more- but Sigs seem pretty similar? I no a lot of people probly like one or the other better but are they really worth that much more? I heard glocks are totaly bullitproof and reliable and accurate and it seems its' what most cops carry
