I'm new to glocks, but love'em.
    It's a fine, simple, reliable,
    light-weight semi-auto.

    I need to get connected.
I'm no young guy, and have been
shooting most anything all my life!

I need club and contact info in the
    central florida area.

Maybe it's time for a newbie club
to handle all the new-comers, here!

New-found eagerness needs an outlet, too!

    Please consider my recommendation.

    Thanks,
    Pizzaaguy

    Pizzaguy,

    Welcome to Glock Talk!

    Just come to general non-glocking.

A newbie club would not draw many posts.

    Welcome!
Interesting idea; some boards have a New Section; that would be up to Eric and Patricia.

The GNG is a good place to list questions; also check the other Sections for matches to your topics. List your questions in the header line.

Also in the upper right corner of the page is a FAQ link.

    Enjoy.

Brought up a while ago, pretty well shot down due to lack of interest on Management's part:

As for post volumes, I'd like to point out that several other boards (including the SIG forum) have new user's areas, and they attract a decent amount of posting volume. In addition, there's a board that caters to technical issues with the Kyocera 6035 that has a "FAQ" forum that also has significant activity.

Welcome to GT. I think you'll find people here helpful if you simply post an introduction and your questions in the appropriate GT forum. Pretty easy.

You might want to browse the Glock FAQ (frequently asked questions) site for answers to common questions and just a ton of good background info on Glocks. Any questions you have after that, post it in the appropriate forum, and we'll be glad to answer it.

If you are looking for places to shoot try

    www.wheretoshoot.org
    www.uspsa.org
    www.idpa.com

The second two are competition venues, but they welcome newcomers. There are newbies at most matches. If nothing else finding out where they shoot should lead you to ranges in your area. IDPA may be more to your liking, as it is a bit slower paced than IPSC, and a bit less itimidating, if you are new to action shooting.

As for Glock info the previous posts are a good place to start.

    Shoot safe,

a newbie faq at the top of the general glocking forum that is sticky (like we need ANOTHER sticky in GG) could be done.

but could also include the typical internet terms/abbreviations many people cant figure out right away

    FTF
    FTE
    JHP
    FMJ

My guess is that it is a traffic issue. Or that's what I've always assumed. When I first came to GT I started out looking for the FAQ and quickly found out that it was a FAQ to using the board, not Glocks. I assumed this was the case because so many questions asked here are things that should be answered by a FAQ and if you have a FAQ that answers these questions then that would cause a decrease in traffic. And a decrease in traffic is bad because traffic is what is used to draw sponsers. This is just a fact of the way things work. No big deal, I guess.

Now, a Newbie forum, on the other hand, may or may not decrease traffic. I'd have to think on that one a while.

Then again, I may be wrong.
