5'9" person sits on the ground under a table. How high does the table need to be so the person can sit up straight under the table?

Side notes:
Your height doesn't change when you sit down, but how high off the ground the top of your head is does. I am interested in the height of the head when the person is sitting down.

There is a slight difference in torso height between men vs. women, whites vs. blacks vs. asians vs. ...... The differences are not significant for this question. If you are 5'9" please measure.

I assume someone around here is 5'9", but in an effort to get a meaningful answer if you are a little taller or shorter please measure. In this case I close guestament is good enough.

thanks

There may be some variables involved here. How fat is your A**?

A standard wood working design spec says 2 foot 4 inches.

For typing: 2 foot 2 inch

Leave about 10 inches of overhang for knee clearance

Rig up some eye bolts so you can easily adjust the height of the table.

There is no correct answer.
There is no fixed proportion between the length of a persons legs or torso relative to their overall height.

I have an extra vertabre, as do most males in my family. We are all much taller from the waist up than most people. How would you compensate for such a thing? For example, I am 6' 8" tall and wear a 32 length pants.

Don't most car manufacturers allow 54" head room?

Howdy,

I'm 6' 1 1/2" so I'm not going to be any help.

My wife is 5' 11" so she's not much help either.
