Looking for recommendations on muff type, volume controlled, that can pick up voice while on but shut down firing range noise. I wear hearing aids so over ear is a necessity, have bought several over the (many) years that have broken or not worked to my satisfaction. Have to qualify once a year and hearing keeps getting harder.

    Thanks for you input.

Check with the manufacturer about using hearing aids with electronic attenuating hearing protectors. Some can cause feedback in the hearing aids.

They are great. I need to get a new pair, because the one I had crapped out on one side after years of heavy use.

I got to try my now-incoming company commander's set while at AT, and loved it. He got them free for T&E, though, which made them even better for him!

I've used Peltors for years. They have been pretty decent.

I've worn Peltor Tac Pros for years now and they work great.

I wear an over-the-ear hearing aid and there is no conflict. BUT a word of warning! Twice now I've had the hearing aid get flicked off my ear into the grass/on the ground as I removed the Peltors. So I usually remove the hearing aid before putting them on so I don't lose the hearing aid.

I've had good luck with the Peltor Tactical 6-s muffs. I carry a pair of Surefire earpro in the pocket of my uniform shirt when I'm on duty but use the Peltors for range work.

MSA Sordins here. Probably the best I've ever used. Might not be worth it if you only shoot once a year. Why do you only shoot once a year?
