    Hey,

I heard on arfcom there was a G17 gen 4 spring rod recall?

Is there any truth to that?

While I am here: Do these new Gen 4s need to be broken in? How are they holding up thus far?

    Thanks!

Glock wouldnt issue a recall if there were a problem. Like kabooms, it would be dealt with on an individual basis. We cant have Glocks "perfection" tarnished with recalls.

First of all no one said on Arfcom that there was a recall, just rumors of one. Glock doesn't do recalls, they do optional 'upgrades', even if the optional 'upgrade' is to stop a gun from exploding you. Glock has handled many of their issues very poorly in the past, no doubt about it.

That said, it certainly seems to be a break-in issue. With the stronger recoil spring, it appears the 9mms may require more dry cycling and/or live fire to make them run 100%. And hopefully now the .40s won't cause problems.

I took mine out last Monday and put a couple hundred rounds through it with no problem. I will go again tomorrow.

    Long story short:

Some guy here on GT wanted to buy a Gen4 G17, but the shop had sold all theirs by the time he went to get one.

He turned that into a story about how the store told him all kinds of things that they didn't actually tell him (more dramatic that way)

Glock did not recall the pistols.

The store this guy went to did not stop selling them, nor did they tell him that they had.

The internet being what it is, people were happy to perpetuate the story on other boards, and so here we are now.

I'd have a Gen4 G17 on the way to my local FFL tomorrow if not for money issues.

If you have a Glock with serial number beginning in EAA thru EZZ, it has a potential factory defect in the frame rails (the rears can break/shear off). Glock knows of this, and did NOT notify owners (I sent in my warranty reg card). I only stumbled upon the information here. They would not pick up cost for return shipping on what they call an "upgrade". It cost me about $55 shipping to have THEIR factory defect fixed. Glock could easily have sent out a FedEx call tag as they have deeply discounted shipping rates, but would not. I had to send it to them Next Day Air, they returned it 2nd Day Air. Glock CS can kiss my azz.
