For the NRA Meetings. Booked for the Hyatt Regency with free shuttle service to and from the GWCC. Looking for places to eat without leaving the area or a bunch of driving.

I thought maybe you were going down for Freaknik. Either way, have a good time and enjoy your trip.

Certainly not a small town. Unless you're pretty familiar with the terrain, I'd decide which restaurant I wanted to visit, and then take a cab. Atlanta can turn mean pretty fast. Fun town to visit, but I would not live there.

Mary Mac's Tea Room is really good southern food. I live OTP on the southside, and refuse to go to the ATL unless it's absolutely necessary. Make sure you carry everywhere you can.

I plan to. I went to the Sheriffs office today and renewed my CCDW license. I've also officially upgraded to Patron Life member to.

Live outside Atlanta, rarely go inside perimeter highway 285. I'd just do some googling and take a cab. Wouldn't spend any time walking around.

As mentioned the varsity for greasy goodness.

For great burgers and a bar atmosphere the Vortex (Theres two locations but I got the Midtown one. The iconic Fox Theater is just down the street.) they do allow smoking in the bar part though but to me the setting is cool. They have a lot of beers of all kinds.

Fogo de chao is a great Brazilian steakhouse is also kind of pricey but good. You won't go wrong here

Fox Bros BBQ is also good.

The capital Grille. Another upscale steak place

The Sun Dial on top of the Westin provides 360 degree views of the city. It rotates while you eat.

World of Beer has over 500 in stock and has some good bar grub.

McCormicks and Schmicks is upscale and pricey but has awesome food.

Atlantic station is not that far and has some good grub also.

Stay out of the West side of the city, the East side also has some bad places.

If you will be here for more then a day or two and like out doors stuff you have endless things to do.

Stone Mountain has lot of stuff.

You can hike Kennesaw mountain in a day.

Plenty of water activities around the lakes.

Six flags should be open next month also.

North Georgia mountains with in an hour and half drive.

Casino in Cherokee NC is about three hours away

Plenty of indoor sky diving, top golf, Dave and busters type stuff also.

I live about 5 mins from the airport and work on the east side of Atlanta but my company has properties all over Atlanta.

There are some bad areas just like any big city but a little common sense will keep you out of trouble.

Forget public transportation as it's terrible. I think we have the worst I've seen but they are trying to improve it before we get the super bowl in 2019.

I was in the Marietta, Smyrna area for three weeks. Great people, Mexican food was off the chart, terrible traffic. I look forward to going back in a couple of months whenever work rotates.

Worth an Uber fare to hit Fat Matt's Rib Shack. I never miss it when in the ATL.

There are some great places in the city. However you can go from a decent area like the BeltLine, Atlantic Station or Buckhead to bad areas pretty quickly. Just use common sense.
