    New Puter.

    Conected thru HDMI.

    VISTA 64B

Video is perfect, BUT audio is "iffy". Sometimes I get audio - sometimes I don't!

If I re-boot several times I get the audio back.

Is there an AUDIO side to the HDMI Output

I've tried different HDMI cables to no avail.

When I use a VGA Cable EVERYTHING works?!

    Need GT help.

    Thanx.

HDMI includes up to 8 channels of audio, plus CEC which lets HDMI devices control each other. It could be that it's sending a signal back to Vista through the HDMI telling it to be quiet on it's own audio outputs and use HDMI audio, don't know for sure, just guessing on that one.

Since it works with VGA, and you have sound doing that, then you're not using the HDMI audio anyway. What I would try, providing you have the correct ports, would be to use a DVI to HDMI adapter at one end or the other depending on which has a DVI connector.

DVI uses the same signal, no conversion, and will provide the same picture quality as HDMI, but without the CEC control or audio. That will give you a similar configuration as using the VGA connection but with the greatly enhanced picture of DVI/HDMI.
