Did not see this posted yet, but the universal BG check bill and the "hi cap ban" bills passed in CO. Straight up party line vote 7-4.

So this bans mags over 10 rounds (supposedly being amended to 15) but exempts mags already possessed (or I guess theoretically bought before 7/1/13). How in the hell are they going to know when a mag was purchased? Could I not just drive one state over (in any direction) and buy them and say I've had them for years?

    Morons.

At least they exempted family transfers I guess.

The Denver metro area is pretty left and skews the whole state.

That retarded article said "a Denver Post survey showed that 83% of Coloradoans wanted more gun control"

No dumbasses. it showed that 83% of Denverites wanted more gun control.

I am pretty bummed, this state is turning left, I will have to come up with another retirement plan.

There are a lot of people that think like you do and it's that thinking that will sink us. Do you belong to the NRA and call and write your reps all the time? You need to be doing that. It's not too late to start.

I do, I do and have since I joined the NRA several years ago. We fought to overturn a gun ban (Prop H) in SF several years ago and it was overturned. Its still better than what CA or NY has on the books, hope this can be overturned. Where will Magpul go :headscratch:

I got receipts for all my high cap mags, guns, etc, stored in a file in my safe.

Police...Can you prove you bought them legally, and before the ban?

Me...Yup, wanna see the receipts? Oh, by the way, I also have copies, just in case something happens to them...Lost, wind blows it out of your hand, etc.

While it's just a committee vote, now would be a good time to write state legislators and the governor.

These bills have only passed through committee. They are not law. There is time to contact your elected officials!

This is the problem people. For too long people have said "screw NY, IL, etc" or "that'll never happen here." Yes, it will eventually. If we dont start standing up together now, it will never stop. IL is at a tipping point. We are actually looking at the possibility of GAINING some of our rights back, all the while fighting against encroachment of others.

Every single payday I send 25 dollars to the NRA, the ISRA(Illinois state), and the NYSRPA. Yeah, I dont live in NY, but they need our help, all of our help. Fight it there or fight it in your backyard, makes no difference, but it will be fought.

A party line vote. Where are the fools who say the parties are one and the same?

We all need to stop thinking like this. Another school shooting or 2 and this will pass at the federal level.

Well my experiences in NY has been that emails and letters you wright get answered by a vague form letter days and weeks later .
    Absolutely still send a letter

I recommend calling and asking for a face to face meeting to voice your concerns and please make them valid reasons. I have yet to get a meeting with one of our local politicians when asking them not to infringe on our 2nd amendment rights.

This is only a committee vote and there's still time on the political clock to work on your various reps.

This makes more sense. I know CO is not a real densely populated state, but a 7 - 4 vote from a full legislature is just a bit too small.
