One of my uncles who was Italian and from the Bronx used to refer to our family as "His Micks".
As a Catholic I've been called a few names, but never in meanness...
In the Air Force we were called Zoomies and Sputterbutts by the other services. As a nuke troop we were "Glow Worms" and in munitions we were "BB-Stackers".
That stuff has never bothered me...

    I kinda liked "Smart-Ass Whiteboy".

I grew up when Archie Bunker, Fred Sanford and George Jefferson were at the top. Being called an "ethnic name" was in vogue.

Been called all kinds of names but I "feel" fine about it. Life is tough, folks need to thicken up their skin a little. To many folks are into their feelings a little to much these days. Just saying.

I was a lead cook at a resort for about 5 years in my mid 20's. I was in charge of 6 other cooks 3 of them black. If you've ever worked in a kitchen you'll know it's not a sophisticated environment. On a daily basis I was called a cracker amongst other things. Each and every time my response was: get back to work, hand motions and whip sound included. Only half joking. We were all friends and had a great time. I truly miss those days. A simpler time for many reasons....

I never chose to fight, and very rarely ever started one, but became pretty good at finishing them. And when I say fighting multiples, that was because, in the army I learned that you would never be jumped by one black guy, normally it takes two or three to start and other would join in to try and monkey pile the white boy. I already knew to get my back to the wall and don’t ever go down, many bad things happen if you end up on the floor.

I had also learned that if you are big, like bigger than everyone else, that you would end up having to fight a lot more than you will ever want to. To many smaller guys the big guy is a target to prove your manliness.

I think that carried over to the streets and some cops as well. I have only been arrested twice in my life, and I have never resisted the arrest, but was beaten both times. The second one was fairly significant and left me with a souvenir to remember it by. However, and even with that I am still law enforcement friendly, I just can’t trust any of them quite 100% because of the odd bad apple with an attitude.

My first captain had been in Korea and like calling me "honey bucket ". I can't say I liked being nicknamed after a barrel of excrement . It was his term of endearment for me.

I’ve been called a honkie. Doesn’t bother me, think of it as a badge of honor.

My user name is a good example. My brother and a few close friends of Irish ancestry refer to one another as “Micks”. Of course It’s also a derogatory term used in the past, by those who are not.
