Hubby wants to stay near Caesar's, wants to show me the shops and underground thing (?). These are the hotels I've pulled up so far, would like your opinions as to good / bad / indifferent. We wouldn't be staying in the base room, either deluxe or suite. Suggestions?

    Bally's
    Mirage
    Venetian
    Treasure Island
    Caesar's
    Bellagio

Of course, looking for the most bang for your buck. Thanks to my brother-in-law's inimitable timing, we're actually there for Memorial weekend, so the Friday night prices are generally double what Thursday night will cost us. We're coming in Thursday and going home Saturday, SANS KIDS. :dancingbanana:

Haa, I knew you'd say that (Bellagio is the most expensive out of all them  )

I was talking to a friend, and she said, "You're not taking the kids, so you know what you're going to be doing a lot of..."

    I said, "Yeah, fighting."

We both had a good laugh over that. The last time hubby and I went anywhere for longer than a night with just each other was Seattle and I was getting some medical stuff done, not fun.

I'm not sure what we're going to do since we're not there too long; we've got some money set aside for gambling, and I said I wanted to catch a show, so we might do that. Then, of course, there's the wedding to go to on Friday...

Hey, weather in Vegas at the end of May, hot? Short sleeves and knee length skirt weather? (remember I have the thermostat of a cricket, so if it dips below 75 degrees, I'm freezing)

Bring some good sneakers and walk your behind off. Inside, outside, down the street, etc.,

Skip the gambling. Unless you are a hard-core gambler, it wastes time you could be doing other things.

Go downtown. That's a cool show. And people-watching there is more fun than most other places. LOL

Check out Hoovah Dam. It's a cool trip.

Consult Weather.com for average temps. But it'll be warm to hot.

I'm not an experienced Vegas traveler, but I did just return from a business conference at the Wynn Resort, and would recommend it based on atmosphere, activities, etc.

I don't know how much behind I have left to walk off.

Gambling...*shrug* I usually win a couple hundred bucks while I'm there (meaning I'm up a couple hundred bucks OVER what I BROUGHT, not that I spent $300 and won $200 kind of thing  )

The only problem with people watching is...I hate people. I especially hate large groups of people. Large groups of touristy ill behaved people leave me wanting to ChuteTheMall, if you know what I mean.

See the Hoovah Dam and did the houseboat on Mead thing (in July, MAN was it hot).

What's this underground thing that hubby wants me to see? I haven't been to Vegas since the mid-90s.

Try Imperial Palace. It's older and in need of renovation, but right in the middle of everything you listed. I usually stay there for conventions because it's so reasonable in comparison to the big names.

Not a Vegas regular here either, but I was just there in January. Stayed at Treasure island. Nice rooms-even the cheap ones. IIRC, they had some good rates going. If memory serves, TI would probably be the furthest away from Caesars of the list you gave. But, it's still only a few minutes walk. So, that's my limited hotel experience in Vegas.

If you want some food recommendations, I've got a few. I have no idea if they are good for Vegas or not, but were probably some of the best I've ever had-but I'm not very well traveled. I didn't want to hijack the thread with restaurants.

    Have fun.

Jerry's Nugget casino in North Las Vegas has the best Prime Rib in town. I drive to Vegas twice a year for it.

Well City Center and Caesars has the biggest "underground" world to walk around but both are expensive. Actually on the days you are going...they are ALL expensive.

If you get the urge to go shooting and window shopping for guns...Discount Firearms is only a few blocks away on highland drive parallel to the strip between Sahara and Spring mountain.

Stay at the cheapest place, probably Luxor. You're not going to be in your room much, at least I wasn't.

I'll vote for not the Bellagio. The Bellagio is very, very nice. Very classy. But, to me...it wasn't "exciting". They have a nice butterfly garden, but that's about it.

The buffet there was amazing, but was about $40 IIRC.

only suggestion I would have is to check all their websites for special deals.

and priceline.com, though I doubt you can specify a hotel brand there.

We've stayed at New York, New York in Las Vegas, 5 times in the past 18 months. It has a lot of what you want. 4 star hotel and sometimes booked in advance, rooms as low as $ 69. (I get free rooms). Good selection of table games and of course slots.

Food, as someone stated earlier, The Buffet at Bellagio is pretty darn good. Real good variety. About $ 20 per person.
At the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino they have a restaurant called Mr. Lucky's. They have a special not on the menu called the Gambler's special. It is a steak and shrimp with potato for $ 7.77. We were a party of 6 and our bill with drinks was under $ 70 at that particular restaurant.

Enjoy yourself. PM me if you want more show info or activities on the cheap.
