Have the bugs been worked out of 4th gens?

I want to get a pair of G17's for my (future) kids and might get one for myself. But before I buy any I just want to make sure there's no reason for concern with the 4th gen pistols.

I was doing some reading in various threads and the springs seemed to be the problem. Something about a 02 setup vs. a 01... anyways...any issues or are they GTG 100%?

Thanks!

I have the gen4 g19 with '04' spring which is the latest compared to the 0-2-1 spring. No problems to this day.

btw. don't let those complaints scare you. There are plenty of people with gen4 that are plenty satisfied with their pistols and never post about good they are. People are more prone to post a complaint then satisfaction. Don't let doubt hinder you from your purchase.

Now how do you tell the difference? Is it by just looking? Serial Number?

Thanks!

I think that 99% of all of the Bugs in Gen 4 Glocks are in the minds of the people complaining!!!
I hope so.

I plan to get a G34 when they become available.

There are no serious issues. There was some concerns over the springs in the earlier models but they have been resolved. Don't let the naysayers concern you.

Just remember, you can have a problem with any Glock; just give them a call or contact a Glock Armorer for help.

Great way to pass a legacy, pass the Glocks.

I agree. my early G17 Gen4 has been flawless
2 weeks ago I ran 250 rounds of Federal Champion 115gr through my gen 4 g19 03 spring with no problems. Today I had 3 jams in 250 rounds.

All problems today came from Federal Champion 115gr, no problems cycling 100 WWB 115.

I'll probably be requesting the 04 spring and or will be shooting hotter ammo.

Kappa- what type of ammo have you been shooting with no problems and how many with your 04 spring?

I think it is just like any other gun some have issues others don't. Threads about guns fte and ftf happen on every gun site I am a part of, they just happen and every gun does it so I am not sold that there is a problem out of the ordinary with gen 4 glocks. I have a gen 4 g23 and love it. Shoots like a dream and not as snappy as other 40 cal I've shot. I have had zero problems since I bought it and cant wait till the g27 gen 4 come in so I can snag it also.

I had three jams yesterday with 115gr rounds, no problems with 124gr. Needless to say I'll be requesting the 04 spring from Glock, once I get back from vacation.
Glock Inc. has made the corrections.
All is well.

But again, is there a way to tell this from the serial number or otherwise?

Thanks!

Such a tease.

Wow. Even the same subject title as the thread from last week.

Don't thank him. He wasn't trying to help.

Therein lies the answer: the vast majority of people are buying & using Federal Champion from Wallyworld which is notoriously underpowered. When they switch the problems stop.
No bugs on my G17G4 with 01 recoil spring.
Now how do you tell the difference? Is it by just looking? Serial Number?

Pop the spring out and look on the end of it. It's stamped there (just like the picture on the link that KaPPaBaLL posted).
Even with the "bad" spring, I've had zero problems with my G19. 115, 124, light loads, heavy loads. Works just as well as my Gen 2.5

But, I wouldn't want the detractors to hear that!
