I just purchased a firestorm 1911 and I just love it. It functioned great out of the box and is very, very tight. the workmanship is great, it looks just like any colt 1911. the bluing is perfect, and the gun is very accurate. Give this was a loaded 1911 in the $500 range I have to wonder how much mark up those darn 1911 pistols have for the other manufacturers to sell them for so much more. The firestorm is made in the phillipines by the same company that makes RIA 1911 pistols. I was told my a friend that springfield used to have guns made in the phillipines (entry level 1911 gi spec guns) in the early 90s but found a better deal in Brazil afterwards. Does anyone know if this is true.

Has someone put thousands of rounds through a firestorm 1911? I am interested in the philipino guns, not the spanish ones. Here are pics of mine, I think it looks amazing for a gun of any price, let alone a $500 gun.

Congrats! I have only held one in the gun store but it seemed very nice for the price. Bac has one (did a range report a while back) and likes it, which says something considering his collection of expensive 1911s.

edit to add: How are the sights?

Congrats! Not too shabby at all!

The only thing that looks a bit cheap to me is that trigger. Super easy fix, if it even bothers you.

Those Filipino's really know how to make nice stuff out of truck leaf springs...lol just kidding. They are great looking guns and the price is almost scary?

They actually look like they have a better fit and finish than my PARA GI expert. My PARA is nice for $500 but it seems there are better budget 1911's out there now that I actually have one. PARA's paracoat finish is craptastic! You breath on it and it seems to come off???

Congrats, I like the 1911 platform and plan to have one (or four) in my collection until I die. Besides that Fillipinos have been allies and serving in our military for decades so they ought to be familiar with 1911s.

They are great guns for the money. I was very impressed with the one that I had. But it was an impulse buy that I ended up selling to fund another project.

Congrats! I like it, though the hammer just looks funky to me. No big deal, though.
