I am thinking about buying one and smoothing the tiny spikes. Not really sanding them but maybe just rubbing something like thick leather against it to wear the spikes down. I am thinking it would turn out similar to a smooth gen 1 with finger grooves.

No way man, not for me....I love that RTF2 grip. It's the best hold I've ever had on a gun.

You might as well wait for the Gen 4 G19 since the RTF pattern on those seems to be less rough than the RTF2.

I wouldn't want to mess with the "Perfection"
I mean the RTF2 is just an option anyhow..
Why not just buy the texture you want??

It looks like it has the least grooves in the pattern. The original Gen3 and Gen4 guns have large grooves around the knobs. The RTF2 looks almost flat except for the tiny spikes. It looks like it could be made as smooth all over as a regular Gen3 side panel.

Not yet but it looks promising since they got rid of the curved serrations. That was all that was holding me back from picking up one earlier.

I bought the G22 RTF2, G17 RTF2 and G19 RTF2 and I think they are the best Glocks yet other than possibly the Gen. 4 which I have on order in a G17.
