I saw a bunch on gunbroker. There's 6 on there infact, most of them are bid up over $800, and all are bid over the starting price (which was $719.)

It's tempting to me, given I love my G41, the G40 seems like the ultimate woods gun short of a magnum revolver. Though admittedly I'm rarely out in the woods. We do theoretically have black bears here in colorado, lol. I'm so trying to justify one of these. I think a G30S will likely come first though, I need a carry gun!

When I get mine this week, I'll post some pics and maybe a range report later in the week. I got some Underwood 180gr to feed it.

We're in the woods fairly often, but I'm still gonna use my G41 for that. I want the G40 just to have one, but not for $800.

The price is pretty steep at the moment, but that's probably due to supply and demand. Right now there's barely any out there for sale. I bet in a few months it will be a different story, though.

May I ask why you'd still use the 41 if you had a 40? Even in big critter/black bear country?

I'm still curious what the final slide design will look like, especially given the narrow slide on the G41, and the rumors that there was some issues with the slide on the original G40's....

I want a G40. I will buy one at some point.

That doesnt mean it is the best woods gun. A G29 is a better woods carry gun.

You will likely never need the gun, so 10 rounds and the short grip/short slide make carrying much easier.

And I wouldnt worry too much about a bear. Unless you leave food out at night, you probably wont have any problems nor ever encounter one. If you are really worried about them, many "experts" claim the really strong pepper spray works better on deterring a bear than about anything. You can get it at Jax....

G29 has tempted me as well! I think a G30S is still next on my list, since I've already got a 45 and a bunch of ammo...I have read similar regarding spray - but mostly just curious why the OP would prefer G41 over G40 for woods carry, given neither are exactly carry size!

You know those guys that save up and buy a Corvette as a weekend car and won't drive it in the rain? Besides, a G41 will easily handle anything here in SW FL.

Just picked mine up from the FFL transfer dealer this afternoon. It was from Ables in Texas (through Gunbroker). Most are selling there right at $700, auction or fixed. You just have to pay attention to shipping and credit card fees in the listings. The first few days, the prices drove up on auctions to $900, but after less than a week, there were some selling for $665 fixed price plus shipping. I did an exhaustive online Google search last week, and found about 3 stocking dealers out of about 10 Google pages. One had a G40 Blue Label, that said they could ship it. I paid for it online, but they soon emailed me and told me how Glock is cracking down on Blue Label guns, and it could not be shipped. It was a clerical error they entered. But $580 for local sale in Minnesota.
Royal Range Nashville has one currently in stock for $699 with only $14 shipping. There are a few places that are advertising prices like $625-$640, but none have any available. Here in Michigan, most store dealer prices will be around $720, once they ever get any in.

I live in CA where we can't get any of the Gen4's. I have to make do with my G20 and use that longer Glock barrel when I am out in bear country. Which starts in my backyard.

Yep, we have a couple at my local shop for $720-$730. Can't remember which. Look really nice, but I work for Uncle Sam so I can't afford the ammo.

Saw one at my LGS for $799 before tax...ouch. It's a beast but I'll eventually get one when I find a decent price.
